Which, if any, computer Bible programs do you all use and why do you think it is the best, good, or better than others?

BTW, I happen to use e-sword. It is free, and I have literally hundreds of free add on modules (which are topical, commentaries, theology, &c) from many popular authors, theologians, writers, and many different Bible Versions, and the modules to add grow monthly.

It has been a great blessing and resource to me.

    What about you?

I use several Bible Software Programs.

    Bibleworks
    Online Bible
    Power Bible
    Quickverse
    SwordSearcher
    The Bible Collection Deluxe
    The Word
    &
    Thomas Nelson Electronic Bible Library

I love all the programs. I use Quickverse for its commentaries, Bibleworks for its Lexicons, Swordsearcher for its copy/paste of Scripture Verses function.

I have added my own user notes tab for the Swordsearcher and also for the Quickverse. I have imported several books on the Quickverse and a few on the Bibleworks.

I use E-Sword. It's easy to use and best of all it's F R E E! That's my favorite word in the English vocabulary! It has tons of add ons, some free, some not, but by far it's my favorite and I have tried some others.

The one I use the most is Swordsearcher.
    E-sword comes second.

E-Sword likewise has the same note.

What type of free modules come with this? Are there ongoing modules being created for this?

Is the Expositors Bible Commentary available?

Are you familiar with Theodore Austin-Sparks, and, are his writings available on there as modules?

I am wondering about the authors and commentary modules available on Quickverse.

E-sword has hundreds for free, and they are very good, so I am trying to compare, and also let others know about e-sword and its vast module library.

Bibloi 8.0, not listed, is my main top end program. It's very good for grammar searches in the original languages, and has some good dictionaries.

I love the search possibilities in PowerBible, and use it all the time.

I also occasionally use Seedmaster, an old freebie, on my Japanese computer because Bibloi fonts don't work there.

I answered "I do not use a Bible program" because at the time I completed the poll I did not use a software program. In the past, I have used Logos, MacArthur, Nelson's and MacBible. And then I decided to go all paper, so I gave away the software programs.

When I completed the poll, I saw several people use E-Sword so I went to their website and looked at the sample screens. I liked what I saw (for free) and right now I am in the process of downloading a copy.

    Thanks for the poll.

Not sure about free modules with Quickverse, never checked for any. But the Platinum edition is loaded with so many books (770 to be exact), I hadn't thought about looking for more.

Hey brother, after you download that, let me know, I'll give you some sites to get a multitude of modules to add to it. Commentaries, theologies, topical studies.

The libraries available are fairly vast.

I'm glad you got the program, one reason I started this thread.

basically ALL of my studies now run through bible software, and have had lots of them over years!

Depends what you want/need it to do for you...

2 best for original languages, studying/teaching are Accordance/Bible Works
Gramcord another good choice in windows for older computers, as it is still Dos based!
best for a library of books Logos..

The Word/ Online Bible E bible best free programs!

Currently using Gramcord/Logos 3 Scholars edition/the Word and Online Bible!

I use Accordance for Mac, fully loaded with BDAG and HALOT lexicons. It is the best program, imho, for serious Bible study.

    e-swordusers.org is unavailable.

A little about them: Rampant with heresy. Consider the NSB module there. It is in fact a Jehovahs Witness translated bible. James Madsen is its author. I had given links proving this, and was subsequently banned from e-swordusers, and then an owner of the site made on public view a claim that I was lying, and removed my links of proof, by word of the creator itself that it is in fact JW, and replaced my links with another link that has nothing to do with what I had given. The owner who banned me, and covered up is one jonathon blake. There is much other nonsense, so if it opens up again, you've been warned.

www.doctordavet.com is a good site for modules, for both e-sword and The Word programs.

www.e-sword.net is the site to get the main program, and several commentaries, dictionaries, maps, and other works.

Dave Cox website also has many modules; www.davidcox.com. New modules are being created monthly (at least at the doctordavet site).

The program (e-sword) is absolutely free. There are also modules that one can purchase. I purchased the NASB module for e-sword.

There are modules for The Word, and it is free also, but there are not nearly as many modules available for it.

I hope this is of help to all.

    - Blessings

    "Rampant with heresy"

Humm, Rampant because they have a jw translation??? maybe there is even more that would be objectionable, but "Rampant" - come on.

BY THE WAY E-SWORD.NET has dropped their downloads for some reason, all you can download is step package and the program itself unless I'm missing something.

Edit: Just found a note that you download from within e-sword now.

That's what I said. Rampant with heresy. And like I said, much more.

But you need to argue, right?

When, and if it comes back up, go look for yourself. This time open your eyes?

There are more modules that are heretical, blogs, owners, (unitarianism is "rampant" among them) but, asccording to you, I'm exaggerating, or lying, or both.

Maybe go check out DoctorDavet's site, a fellow Baptist, and ask him why he doesn't use them on his favs link? And how he fought with them concerning the heretical goings on.

I mean, in todays world, how could heresy be rampant anywhere?

    Some people.

"asccording to you, I'm exaggerating, or lying, or both."

Based on what you posted - one item - I suggested exaggeration, nothing was mentioned nor implied about lying so cool your toes a tad.

Thank you for further information on the site, if you have further maybe post it so there is basis for "rampant" which there may well be - if so back up your choice of words.

Sorry you had a bad experience with the man that is trying to keep the site going but you should take it up with him and try to settle it with him. If you have that is good.

Even though there is falsehood there good material is also present. Being careful what you accept is part of being on the internet.

"But you need to argue, right?"

    What evva!

I have the NWT in my library, as well as: the Koran, the Book of Mormon, some of Mary Baker Eddy's Works, plenty of Watchtower publications, Roman Catholic publications, SDA publications, and various others. Does that make me a heretic. No, it makes me well-informed. I use them for reference. To have such works online would be an added bonus, although I would not necessarily download them all.
