I find these accusations all the time in addition to the false statement that the NKJV ignores the TR in 1200 places.

so lets take a look at a few of these.

The NKJV omits "hell" numerous times.

The places where the NKJV doesn't have hell, they have transliterated the word. Therefore the NKJV will have "hades" which is the Greek word. They do this to show a difference in the meanings of the terms. The term "hell" in the KJV doesn't always mean the lake of fire.

The NKJV omits "blood" numerous times

In many of the places, the NKJV has a very similar word. In Ex. 22:2, the KJV has "shed blood" while the nkjv has "bloodshed." Of course the word "blood" isn't there technically, but what is there is a word that is a combination of the two terms. The NKJV doesn't remove the term blood in places where it is dealing with the blood of Christ.

The NKJV omits "Lord" numerous times

The NKJV doesn't use the term "lord" when it's not referring to God.

    Example:

NKJV “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master"

KJV "The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord"

Notice that in the KJV, the word "lord" is with a small letter 'L' because it's not referring to the Lord Jesus Christ. The NKJV doesn't use the term "lord" here as to reserve that term for the Lord Jesus. The statement that the NKJV has the term "lord" fewer times is correct, but very misleading.

These are just 3 examples of misleading statements people have given. Of course I'm still waiting for an example of the 1200 alleged times the NKJV ignores the TR.

The "differs from the TR " stuff is just that-STUFF. The TR is NOT the be-all, end-all New Testament text. KJVO poster boy Dean John Burgon was quick to point that fact out.

Also, the TR has been revised over 20 times since the AV 1611 was made.

Acts 4:27, 30 "servant" or "son"

This same Greek word found at Acts 4:27 and 30 was also used of Jesus at Matthew 12:18a where it was translated "servant" in the KJV. However, it was translated "child" in Wycliffe's, 1534 Tyndale's, Matthew's, Great, and Bishops' Bibles and as "son" in 1526 Tyndale's. Why is this difference important in Acts 4:27 and 30 but unimportant in Matthew 12:18?

Concerning Acts 4:27 but not concerning Matthew 12:18, KJV-only auithor Timothy Morton asked: "Which exalts the Lord Jesus Christ the most, being called God's servant or God's child?" (Which Translation Should You Trust, p. 43). Would Ruckman claim that the KJV rendering at Matthew 12:18 was "another attack on Christ's Deity?" Riplinger claimed that the NKJV translators took the "Sonship away from the Lord Jesus Christ" and made him merely a "servant" (Which Bible is God's Word, p. 42). Would Morton, Riplinger, Stauffer, and Ruckman claim that the KJV translators took away the Sonship of the Lord Jesus Christ at Matthew 12:18 and made him merely a "servant?" The prophet Isaiah had referred to Christ as the servant of the Lord (Isa. 42:1-4, Isa. 52:13). Did the 1885 translation by John Nelson Darby, 1897 Interlinear Greek-English New Testament by George Ricker Berry, or the 1901 ASV copy the 1950's Jehovah Witness Version with their rendering "holy servant Jesus" at Acts 4:27 and 30?

The Companion Bible [KJV] has this note for "child" at Acts 4:27: "child=servant, Greek pais, as in v. 25" (p. 1585). The 1657 English edition of The Dutch Annotations has the following note for "thy holy child Jesus" at Acts 4:27: "or servant, minister, See Acts 3:13, 26, see also Matthew 8:6 compared with Luke 7:2 and here verse 25." Concerning Acts 3:13, A. T. Robertson noted: "This phrase occurs in Isaiah 42:1; 52:13 about the Messiah except the name 'Jesus' which Peter adds" (Word Pictures, III, p. 43). Concerning Acts 3:13 in his 1851 commentary as edited by Alvah Hovey in the American Baptist Publication Society's American Commentary on the N. T., Horatio Hackett (1808-1875) wrote: "pais, not son=huios, but servant=Heb. ebhedh, which was one of the prophetic appellations of the Messiah, especially in the second part of Isaiah. (See Matt. 12:18, as compared with Isa. 42:1). The term occurs again in this sense in v. 26; 4:27, 30" (pp. 59-60). Concerning Acts 4:27, John Gill noted: "Unless the word should rather be rendered servant, as it is in verse 25 and which is a character that belongs to Christ, and is often given him as Mediator, who, as such, is God's righteous servant" (Exposition, VIII, p. 176).

To accuse the NKJV translators of taking away the Sonship of the Lord Jesus Christ is ridiculous. The Greek word pais in these verses was used for both child or servant with the meaning determined by the context. Greek has a different word for "son"--huios. The KJV translated this word pais as "servant" 10 times, "child" 7 times, and "son" 3 times. James Price explained that the real reason for this choice of rendering in the book of Acts in the NKJV is that the translators thought that in this context Peter was alluding to Isaiah 52:13, which identifies Christ as the Servant of the LORD (False Witness, p. 25).

inconsistent, misleading KJV-only accusations against NKJV

Gail Riplinger claimed that "the NKJV demotes Jesus Christ" at Matthew 18:26 with its rendering "Master" (Church Bus News, April-June, 1996, p. 26). How can the NKJV be demoting Jesus Christ at this verse when the word in this text was not addressed to Jesus? The word was being addressed to a certain king. Would Riplinger claim that the 1560 Geneva Bible somehow demotes Jesus Christ at this verse with this same rendering "Master?" Several of the other early English Bibles such as Tyndale's, Coverdale's, Matthew's, Great, and Whittingham’s have the rendering "Sir" at Matthew 18:26. The 1389 Wycliffe's Bible and Coverdale's Duoglott have no rendering for this Greek word. Did these early English Bibles demote Jesus Christ? Of course not! The KJV translators rendered this same Greek word as "master" in a few verses, and eleven times they rendered this same word as "Sir." Riplinger later claimed that it was an error when the Geneva Bible used the term "master" instead of "Lord" for this Greek word (Which Bible is God's Word, p. 52). Would Riplinger claim that it was an error when the KJV translated this same Greek word as "master?"

In addition, it is also ridiculous to claim that "the NKJV demotes Jesus Christ" at Luke 13:8 with its translation of this same Greek word as "Sir" (Ibid.). In the context of Luke 13:6-9, it is clear that the caretaker or dresser of the vineyard is addressing the owner of the vineyard as "Sir." Would Riplinger condemn the KJV translators for translating this same Greek word as "Sir" when addressed to Jesus at John 4:11, 15, 19, 49? Would Riplinger claim that Murdock's New Testament and the Lamsa Bible honor Jesus more with their rendering "My lord" at John 4:11, 15, 19, 49? Haak’s 1657 English Bible has “Lord” at John 4:49 instead of “Sir.“ At Revelation 7:14, the earlier English Bibles had "Lord" while the KJV revised it to "Sir."

I think that it was the new poster Jaocb77 who recently repeated the above inaccurate claim or false accusation against the NKJV.

Where is the proper evidence for this serious, unsupported accusation?

Again, as in another thread, I'd love to hear the KJVO response. They make the same old accusations but fail to back them up with real facts.

I'm beginning to think that KJVO cultists are convinced that the KJV is the only legitimate English Bible based not so much in fact but by personal conviction. And, that's fine but to promote their position using half truths is reprehensible. To call men and women "wickedl" who have faithfully translated the original languages into modern versions is even worse.

Did you mean KJV or NKJV?

The KJV does depart from the TR (there is more than one) in a few places.

KJV Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

RSV Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for every one.

IMO, The RSV reflects the Greek text more accurately translating bracu,ti as "a little while".

The KJV rendering of Hebrews 2:9 is a JW favorite.

Was Jesus made a little lower than the angels or was He made lower than the angels for a little while?

    NKJV...oops!

And that would be an example of a translational difference. the NKJV reads like the KJV here and there are no substantial textual variant here. Just a misunderstanding of what the term βραχύς means to the text.

Correct, but as I previously said, βραχύς IMO is ignored and not translated by the KJV translators.

Isn't that where they get the word "little" in the "little lower." I noticed in the ESV it has "little while lower." I noticed the NKJV reads like the KJV here too.

But since botht the KJV/NKJV versions used the sameGreek tewxt for their source/TR shouldn't they be identical. except that NKJV would "smooth" over words that are no longer used in English and update that only?

Shouldn't KJV to NKJV be similiar to 1977 NASV to 1995 NASB update, essentially same, but modern language usuage put in?

The NKJV gives the alternative rendering in the margin. I don't claim to be any great Greek expert, but it seems to me that either translation is possible.

It is debatable that's why I said IMO.

The NAS, NAB and NJB also have "for a little while" - NJB ("short while").

Friberg, UBS and LS Lexicons limit brachu ti to time.

Why did the KJV introduce all these changes?

The 1560 Geneva Bible was the favored, loved, accepted English Bible of English-speaking believers and the common people before the KJV was ever made. In many places, the NKJV is closer in wording to the 1560 Geneva Bible than the 1611 KJV is. Thus, it could be asserted that it is the KJV that is the one that is introducing unnecessary changes in places where the 1560 Geneva Bible already presented an accurate rendering in English. Were all the changes introduced in the KJV actually improvements: clearer or more accurate than the wording in the 1560 Geneva Bible?
