I received this email today's from the Democrat Party:
    ***************************
    Friend --

The President and I have a routine -- we get lunch together almost every Friday.

But all I get is lunch. You could be one of four supporters to have dinner with him soon.

Donate $5 or more today to have your name automatically thrown in the hat here:

I'm reminded every week that sitting down for a meal with the President of the United States -- without TV cameras or a big crowd -- is something only a few people will ever get to do.

You're not going to want to miss this chance.

    I wish you luck,

    Joe

Sounds like a lottery or gambling to me? What say your?

I would pass. I only gamble on things I really want! And, although dining with the President would be an honor, I'd not want to give a penny to his re-election bid..

I'd be interested in seeing where either a lottery or gambling is a prohibition for anyone. Seems like a great way for a group (regardless of political affliation) to receive support for their cause.

I might put in for several opportunities.

While I would not be interested....well, maybe I might if I could speak to him about anything, unhindered....I don't know that I would qualify donating to a candidates campaign coffers as gambling or a lottery, because that's basically what they're asking you to do. They'll draw a name from those who donate. To me that's similar to paying for a ticket to a dinner and they have door prizes where they draw names for the winners from the attendees.

I wouldn't contribute either. Still, would be nice to sit down with him or shoot hoops or play 18 with him.

Arbo's Rule #6: Before dining out with any politician, regardless of party affiliation, be sure in advance who is picking up the tab.:)

I'm pretty sure dinner with the current POTUS violates at least one of ThousandHills 3 Rules:
    (1) Don't go nowhere you don't want to go
    (2) Don't eat nothing you don't like
    (3) Don't spend time with people you don't like
