It's discouraging that, beyond the options regarding scripture, you only have selections which include the presence, adoration of, and commitment to the flag and not opportunities to say that one's church avoids mixing their worship of God and advancement of the Kingdom of God with the political system of a nation.

In our worship area, we have the flags of many nations present, reminding us of all of the nations where our church supports missionaries who proclaim and demonstrate the Kingdom of God in action.

The U.S. flag sits at the same level as the rest, having no special esteem or privilege.

    Salty,

I would still like to know if you have Scripture evidence for the normative principles. You asked for my scripture references and I provided them. I, however, have not seen any Scripture reference for the normative principles of worship which may allow a flag in the worship.

We don't currenty have a flag in our auditorium. But we have in the past and might yet in the future. I don't see anything wrong with having it or not having it where we meet. We don't meet in a church. We are the church meeting in a building.

Our buildings have been and wll continue to be used as a polling place.

I find nothing that prohibits it. At this point 100% of those voting have stated that "Scripture is silent on the issue"

That is the point, where do you get the idea that if it is not prohibited it is allowed in corporate worship? Did you make that up yourself, or did you derive it from Scripture? God seems clear that in worship, we should only offer what God prescribed in worship, and not add the "traditions of man" and "will worship" as these add or subtract from God's Word.

As I showed you, we derive our view from Scripture. As I noted before from Pastor Domm:

So, tell me, where do you get the idea that you can add to God's Worship? Did you make it up yourself or derive it from Scripture?

This is called a faulty appeal to people. The question is not what people think, it is what God thinks. Thus, we must turn to Scripture. BTW, I didn't vote because the survey is poorly worded and slanted to one side. It does not encompass my view at all.

Where do you get your idea that we can add to worship? Scripture or did you make it up?

In more than 70 years, never heard of normative and regulative principles of worship. Is this from a modern book or something.

I am sure the early believers checked out the caves and the sewers they had to use before entering into worship.

Sure glad I am retired, if I had to put up with that nonsense, and besides, we don't use the Old Testament practices, dancing and instruments, to determine the 21st century NT church.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I don't know how long the actual terms "regulative principle" and "normative principle" have been around, but the principles themselves are certainly nothing new. The Regulative Principle, for example, is stated in the Westminster Confession, at the start of chapter 21, though it's not called the Regulative Principle there.

So the terms may possibly be new-fangled, but the things desccribed by those terms are not.
