    Here are my notes for my next Wednesday night Bible study.......

    ====================================
    -THE DOCTRINE OF PRESERVATION- (3)
    ====================================
    Continuing with a series of lessons on.....”the Bible’s preservation”!
    ====================================
    LETS GO TO....... Proverbs 30:5,6
    ====================================
    -“GOD’S” SECOND WARNING.....NOT TO MESS WITH HIS WORD-
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:5A “Every word of God [is] pure:”
    -THE FOUNDATION......THAT OUR FAITH IS BUILT UPON-
    (Verbal inspiration:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    The fact that we can “trust” every word!
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:5B “he [is] a shield unto them that put their trust in him.”
    -GOD’S BLESSING.....UPON THOSE WHO TRUST HIS WORD-
    (A shield of faith around them:)
    Protecting them from Satan’s attacks:
    --------------------------------------------------
    Satan’s attack upon our faith!
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:6A “Add thou not unto his words,”
    -A GREAT TEMPTATION.....IN THESE LAST DAYS-
    (With the great increase of knowledge:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    Being tempted to add man’s thoughts.....
    “Our Theology”
    “To” and “over”....God’s Word!
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:6B “lest he reprove thee,”
    -GOD’S ENDURING PROMISE.....TO HIS PEOPLE-
    (That He will correct us:)
    When we start getting the wrong attitude about His Word!
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:6C “and thou be found a liar.”
    -OUR ONLY ALTERNATIVE.....WHEN WE GET AWAY FROM THE WORD-
    (“We”...become a liar:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    God’s Word is always true:
    Therefore if we contradict it in any way:
    Than we are lying!
    ====================================
    Also see the context in.... Proverbs 30:3,4
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:3A “I neither learned wisdom,”
    -COMING AT THIS SUBJECT....FROM ANOTHER DIRECTION-
    (From the subject of “learning wisdom”:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    Another reasons the Doctrine of preservation is important:
    Is because the Bible:
    Is our only source of “true wisdom”!
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:3B “nor have the knowledge of the holy.”
    -AN ATTITUDE.....WE AUGHT TO HAVE ABOUT THE BIBLE-
    (Remembering that it’s content......is “HOLY”:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    Although it was penned by men:
    Every Word in it came out of God’s mouth!
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:4 -THE FIVE ANSWERS......ONLY......FOUND IN THE BIBLE-
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:4A “Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended?”
    -WHO WAS....THE ONLY PERSON EVER TO “RETURN” TO HEAVEN?-
    (The Lord Jesus:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    And it’s only through a study of Scripture:
    That you can....nail this fact down!
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:4B “who hath gathered the wind in his fists?”
    -WHO WAS....THE ONLY PERSON TO EVER CONTROL THE WIND?-
    (The Lord Jesus Christ:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    And it’s only by “believing” the Bible:
    That this fact gets nailed down!
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:4C "who hath bound the waters in a garment?"
    -WHO WAS....THE ONLY PERSON ABLE TO HOLD THE EARTH?-
    (The Lord Jesus Christ:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    A fact that only a detailed study....brings to light.......
    Colossians 1:16-17
    V.16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
    V.17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

    ------------------------
    Also: The curious fact about a “water molecule”:
    And how this results...in it actually having a “garment”!
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:4D “who hath established all the ends of the earth?”
    -WHO WAS.....THE “PERSON” THAT CREATED THE UNIVERSE?-
    (The Lord Jesus Christ:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    Something the Bible makes very clear:
    In several different places!
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:4E “what [is] his name, and what [is] his son’s name,”
    -WHAT WAS HIS NAME?-
    (The Lord Jesus Christ:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    This is just one example:
    Of the “details”...God’s Word gives us:
    About the sound Doctrines of the Bible.
    ====================================
    Proverbs 30:4F “if thou canst tell?”
    -THE QUESTION.....THAT IS AT THE HEART OF THIS STUDY"-
    (Who of us....could answer these questions:)
    If God hadn’t preserved His Word for us?
    --------------------------------------------------
    Life would be....just one big “question mark”:
    If God hadn’t preserved His Word for us!
    ====================================

    Good, just one question of clarification.. when you said...

    Although it was penned by men:
    Every Word in it came out of God’s mouth!

    Do you mean that God dictated what the writers wrote?

    Hi tinytim

    You asked.........
    Good question.

    What you are talking about is “mechanical dictation”:
    (A derogatory term for verbal inspiration.)

    Therefore yes, God “dictated” the very words, the writers wrote.
    ----------------------------
    Now someone might ask.....
    “How could they have written God’s Words, yet retain there individual writing styles?”
    That is another good question.

    None of us can truly understand how God was able to do this, but after all He is God.

    I think, that God chose the words he wanted to say, out of the vocabulary that was in the minds of each of the writers.
    ------------------------------
    It may seem like I am doing theological gymnastics to make this point, but God’s Word forces me to; Because of one truth.....
    2 Timothy 3:16
    “All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”

    The Words of the Bible are “God breathed”, yet they were written by chosen men.

    None of the writers of Holy Writ, chose a single word they wrote;
    They were moved by the Holy Spirit, to write the words they wrote........
    2 Peter 1:21
    “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.”

    You said, "I think, that God chose the words he wanted to say, out of the vocabulary that was in the minds of each of the writers."

    With that I agree.. but that differs from mechanical dictation.. what you describe is verbal inspiration..

    NOW the question is, how can we accurately translate words from the original Greek into words of the language we speak today?
