Ive read allot of history on Poland, Hungary, the Baltic's & Slavic countries to know that Poland & Czechoslovakia were as close to democracies as as Europe had in the day & so both Germany & Russia both coveted those areas. Now both countries had designs on Poland 1st & foremost so they wrote their war plans around conquering it & did. After that I think it was every man for them self's.....Russia hated Germany & Germany hated Russia. Hitlers plans were to enslave & decimate Russia & all Slavic countries but that idea was hardly new to the German people. Look what they did to Prussia & almost got away with in Poland....so yes it was inevitable. Germany would eventually become aggressive & invade Russia.

I can only speculate on Germany's plans for Italy....plausible to believe North Africa & maybe parts of the Baltic would have come under Italy's jurisdiction.

Operation Barbaroosa would have been a complete success----had Hitler not (1) made himself Chief of the Army---thus capping the idealogy that his plans and his only were the order of the day & (2) switched tactics when Stalin was on the verge of surrendering----had he kept his persuit of the Caucauses instead of pulling his armies toward Stalingrad

Hitler was a goober---had he kept his mind out of military decisions and left decisions up to German High Command(a group of modern day military geniouses)----the citizens of Russia would be spending the Deutch Mark today instead of Russion Rubels!!

A very likely scenario....Of course today even the average German citizen doesn't spend the Deutch Mark any more. All they've got is the Euro, which is rapidly becoming like our dollar--not worth the paper it's printed on. As I recall, wasn't the hyper-inflated post WWI Mark one of the reasons many Germans started supporting Hitler in the first place?

Thank the dear Lord he did although the Russians certainly got hammered. Meglomaniacs don't think history repeats....same mistake as Napoleon Bonaparte. Russia always have had General Winter.

You are right about the hideous inflation the Germans copped after the brutal terms of surrender, understandable but in hindsight a mistake. Hope we don't start carting wheelbarrows full of printed paper to buy a loaf of bread.

If the war had been won by Germany, I wonder if there would been a world wide ethnic cleansing? Hideous thought, or would "inferior races" just been enslaved.

Yes & both England & France were mostly responsible for imposing a peace treaty that hobbled Germany's future growth economically that led to hyper inflation after WW1 so the table was set. Hitler just took advantage of the mood of the people & if you know the German character, they were not going to sit around and be taken advantage of, economically or otherwise.

All you need do is look up Prussian history, then look at the German agenda for Slavic people starting with Poland & Czech Land. The only Poles that would have escaped are the Blond & blue eyed women they turned into whores for their Nazi experiments, making an Aryan race. Christianity also was on the chopping block...Religion would have been a Teutonic
recreation of Paganism with Jews & Jesus eliminated from the picture. Birth defects & mental defects would have been met with death even among their own. A gloomy prospect for the world & mankind.

The war against Russia was winnable by Germany----tactics got tampered with by Germany's mastermind----Hitler himself

Just like the war against Britian was also winnable(tho some Brits still live in a world of denial on that---all the other brits don't give a rip one way or the other) Tactics there were also rearranged by Germany's stooge and his croonies----High Command was totally against switching from the bombing of air bases to the bombing of english cities

While you can easily call ole Adolph a stooge, you gotta remember that he was able to militarize & galvanize the German populace to war with the goal to dominate all of Europe....nearly pulled it off too. Had they taken it apart slowly & methodically & not antagonized the USA they could of pulled it off. Allot more blonds would be walking around & we might well be speaking German.

    Hitler might have taken England.

What about Italy? Old story, Hitler's ambassador is talking to the Brit diplomat. German says, "This time we will have Italy on our side. Brit, "That's fair. Last time we had them."

I wonder if.....Germany had consumed Europe etc, would they have eventually turned on the Japanese....thankfully all this is in the realm of speculation and horror fiction.

Actually I believe Hitler barely beat Stalin to the punch. The Soviets were already subtlely beginning to put the squeeze on Germany's supplies from the East, and encroaching on the oil fields in Romania.

Stalin was as much a megalomaniac as Hitler; he had 'purged' his military of most of it's veteran commanders out of paranoria; but once the war started he let what few generals he had left to do their jobs, unlike Hitler.

If the Germans had 'planned' on a sustained campaign of two seasons instead of trying to defeat Russia in one, it might have worked. But the fact is they did underestimate the willingness of the Russians to defend the Mother Land. They had counted on the Russians considering the Germans as 'liberators' from Bolshevism. Didn't quite pan out that way.

At the same time Hitler initiated Operation Barbarrosa---the Warhmicht was headed east----and supplies from Russia were headed west---passing each other on the way to suppliers destiny!!

Herein lies the secret of military success----Eisenhower had a way of allowing his military advisors to talk and plan---talk and plan--talk and plan----when his Generals talked Eisenhower pinned a medal on their chest-------on the other hand---when Hitler and Stalin's Generals "Talked and planned"---they were SHOT!!! Catch my drift???---so consequently---Eisenhower's Generals, Colonals, Majors, Captains and Leutenants KEPT TALKING AND PLANNING!!!! Hitler and Stalin's Generals, etc---STOPPED TALKING AND PLANNING!!

And yes-----Paulis begged Hitler to allow 6th Army to pull back for the winter--but Hitler refused----idiotic thinking!!!! Hitler was both a genius and an idiot and the same time!!!:type:

Had Hitler not split his forces it two: one to take the oil fields (original plan) and the other to take Stalingrad, the outcome may have been much different.
