    Hey all,

Fairly new to the site. I say that because I have been here before but my time spent here was brief. But I'm back with a question. I would like to learn the biblical languages and have been looking at a couple of different sights. Neither one of my seminary degrees (the one I completed and the one I am currently pursuing) require that I take biblical language courses (although I did have to take a very basic course in biblical languages in my first seminary degree). I do think it is important to learn them so like I said I have been trying to find a good avenue to pursue this. Money is an issue. I am looking to do this not necessarily for credit but for personal enrichment as well as enriching those I have the opportunity to teach and counsel.

I was looking at Easy Hebrew: www.easyhebrew.com. I was wondering if anyone knew about this program. I would also appreciate any guidance in other resources.

    Thanks in advance!

First of all, welcome to the BB!

Secondly, people probably wouldn't expect to find on the "Welcome to the Baptist Board" forum a question like yours about learning biblical Hebrew and Greek. You may find you get more replies if you ask the same question on the "Baptist Theology and Bible Study" forum of the BB if you are a baptist, or on the "All Other Discussions" forum if you are not.

    Yes, welcome from me, too.

David is right. Since you are not Baptist, go down to the Other Christian Denominations and post your inquiry there. I'm sure there'll be several folks who can answer your question.

Hebrew Tutor and Greek Tutor, both available from Amazon.com and Christianbook.com, are good programs. You can also work through the Basics of Biblical Hebrew and Basics of Biblical Greek on your own. For a simpler intro, go for Greek for the Rest of us and Hebrew for the Rest of Us. The latter works are introductory at best and teach you just enough to use lexicons, grammars, and commentaries with confidence. They will not make you a scholar, as is true with the earlier works I mentioned. Only diligent and continued study will do that. Get a good working knowledge and you'll be fine. Welcome, and Tom has some very good resources listed above.

Also check out the following websites where Bill Mounce, the author of some of the texts listed above hosts on-line classes.
