There used to be a (Freewill Holiness Baptist Church) in Kinston, NC but I just did a google search and don't see it listed. Perhaps they changed back but it had been there for years.

Certainly, I know of some charismatic Baptists, liberal Baptists, legalist Baptists, lost Baptists, and even some saved Baptists all attending the same church.
    No joke.

    Oh, I do believe that!

My Baptist Church led by a DTS Grad, Phd in Theology, who holds that spiritual Gifts still operational even today, but does NOT hold to it as being as done in WoF Churches, extreme pentacostal etc, NO divine healers extra biblical revelation today etc

Basically, we hold to praying for the sick among us, God can heal as He chooses to, and we do allow for Tongues among Body, NOT in service at home
    NO gifts operate during services...

I know of a lot of churches like that in fact probably today I would guess most churches fall into that category.:tear:

In my circle of Baptist friends, I don't know of a single one which practices the charismatic gifts.

It has been my experience that most keep it quiet so as not to get looked down on.
If they think someone is open to what they are doing they can share with them.

    Point taken.

This seems likely to happen in a church with a large contingent of youth and young adults. My church has a majority of older folks, and it has yet to rear its head.

I Know Many Spirit Filled Baptists

The answer to your question is yes! I know many spirit filled, enlightened Baptists, and they are no different than you and me.

They are among us, praying for us, and standing as solid prayer warriors, believing in the power of prayer and His Word. :praying:

Their numbers are growing, and because of the bias and prejudice against them from many of their brothers and sisters, they operate more like "secret service saints" in order to not be seen as a stumbling block to their fellow believers, while they stand in the "gap" of the hedge surrounding their loved ones (Ez. 22:30, Job 1:10). :wavey:

So, the answer is yes, there are "charismatic" Baptists, and the neat thing is, they are no different than you and me. They are just moving in some of the gifts that others consider to be no longer relevant to the modern church.

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul :type:

    I think I need to make a point here because of what I said can be miss-understood. In the OP the question was this;
"Do You Know Any Charismatic Baptists In Your Church or Friends"

Usually this is attributed to tongues. While I do know of some who profess this and do this, I in no way believe that the gibberish of today is of the Lord. I believe it is a false gift as the true gift is a real human language so I was not suggesting that they have a true gift. Only that they make claim of it and I have never seen any benefit to the church achieved from what they claim as a spiritual gift.

Also if they claim to have been "slain in the spirit" which is not biblical any way, I don't accept that claim as of the Lord either. I do not reject their having an experience in either case, just that it is not of the Lord.

That is why I am thankful for my pastor and Elders being "open" to at least considering the Gifts for today, BUT also holding to it NOT ever adding to the Bible, NO divine healers as God heals as He Wills, and that ALL Gifts MUST operate according to biblical principles!

As i said, we do NOT practice them in Service, but open to God working as He so fits!

Not really a Baptalcostal Church as Not operating in service, as we have Worship preaching teaching of the Word!

Just not making it as part of membership to have a cease/non ceasing view on the Gifts!

I heard a KJVonly sermon and THOUGHT it sounded like speaking in tongues. Read it out loud and see if you agree . . .

"To Shuppim and Hosa, the lot came foorth Westward with the gate Shallecheth, by the causey of the going vp, ward against ward. Eastward were sixe Leuites , Northward foure a day , Southward foure a day, and toward Asuppim two and two. At Parbar Westward, foure at the causey, and two at Parbar."
    ~I Chron 26:16-18 AV1611

Serious answer: John Piper, a famous Baptist pastor (though use the word "Baptist" loosely since he tried to get his church to accept non-baptized members!! such nonsense is anti-Baptist polity) is a non-cessationist.

Caveat: He's correct in most other areas.

I would draw a distinction between "spirit-filled" Baptists and "Charismatic" Baptists.

I can name brothers and sisters I consider spirit-filled, but none of them have a Charismatic bone in their bodies.

When you read those words aloud in the service, did someone stand up and interpret for you?

    Sorry, couldn't resist.

Both Charasmatic and non charamatic baptists can be Spirit filled, or not!

That is TOTALLY different than being in Gifts or not!

Agreed, can be one who is Biblical , and would see it same way Non charasmatic does, or one who bought error of 'second act of grace/Baptim in Holy Ghost as evidenced by speaking in tongues"

Know that part, first half Christian life in Assemblies of God!
Believe Christian Church, saved peoples, just some bad theology!
