Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary has introduced their new online (w/modest 5 weeks of residency over 3yrs) MA in Religion. It has three areas of emphasis: Christian Care & Counseling, Christian Ministry, & Christian Education. It's a 60 hr degree. Though GCTS isn't "Baptist", it does have Baptists and Baptistics on the faculty. It would probably be a good option for some. GCTS is known for their scholars and their rigor. Plus, they have Haddon Robinson on the faculty. It is certainly a program I would be interested in. One could do MUCH worse than this!

An intriguing program to say the least. I like Gordon-Conwell very much and have always encountered good things from their graduates.

Should be an interesting one to track and see how it goes. :)

Same for me. Its amazing how many MORE online programs are available in just the 10 years since I studied DLP / Online with Liberty. Amazing. MANY more choices today.

I'm thankful for technology especially in the area of ongoing education.

Those who continue to stick to the traditional classroom model - power to them!

I haven't looked at this, but GCTS caught my eye almost 20 yrs ago after college. But the cost of suburban Boston and this institution was too rich for my blood.

MA programs are good for a few, but I fear too many might mistakenly choose this instead of the M.Div.

Perhaps they will, but my first thought was that if this had existed when I did M.A.R. / M.Div. with Liberty I would have liked to have been able to earn my M.A. with GCTS and then M.Div. with Liberty, since I was basically bound to distance ed then, Pastoring a very small church in the northern reaches of Michigan, so that I would have the diversity of schools that I would prefer to have.

Perhaps some will do this before finishing an M.Div. with Luther Rice, Liberty, TBS, or one of the other many schools offering completley online M.Div. now?

    Excellent Point

I think Pilgrim Pastor makes a great point with regard to the increasing options of educational diversity. One could go to GCTS and then to Liberty, Luther Rice, TBS, or (dare I say it here) Wesley Seminary to finish their MDiv.

    Great point!
