It amazes me that a black man running for president, a black man who was successful in business, who has experience in real life, cannot get more attention from the same liberal media that fawned over a "black" man who accomplished exactly nothing before he was acclaimed to be the savior of the USA.

It just goes to show the hypocrisy of our liberal media, and how much control they have over our political processes.

Not sure who you are referring to but is this black man leading in the polls for President? Is he a U.S. Senator? Has he raised millions and millions of dollars? If not, there is no hypocrisy.

I believe Mexdeaf is referring to Herman Cain.

More than likely it's because Mr. Cain is a conservative who believes that the free market does a better and more effective job of pulling people out of poverty and dispair rather than expecting (yea, DEMANDING) the government to do so that the mainstream Liberal media hasn't fallen all over themselves to tout Mr. Cain's candidacy.

OK, thanks. I see that he was CEO of Godfather's Pizza, was on the board of directors of the Federal Reserve (Kansas City district), a U.S. Navy veteran. He currently is a minister and writes a newspaper column.

He ran for Senate from Georgia in 2004 and finished 2nd in the state's Republican primary.

He has raised $2.6 million dollars from 27,000 people, currently 5th out of 8 Republican candidates. (Romney is first at $18.3M; Pawlenty is 4th at $4.5M.) He is 5th in the Iowa GOP straw poll. He is running 9th in the New Hampshire GOP primary poll.

In contrast, in 2008, Obama won the Iowa primary and finished 2nd in New Hampshire (lost to Hillary 39% to 37% of the vote.)

By the end of August 2007, Obama had raised $58M. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/sep/01/barackobama.uselections2008

These are valid reasons why the media is not spotlighting Herman Cain in 2011 like they spotlighted Barack Obama in 2007.

I'm glad to see that someone sees my point. If the media wanted to they would puff Cain just as they did Obama- the man who did absolutely nothing when he was a Senator.

The $ stuff is just a smokescreen. I'd love to have true $ limits- and that ONLY individuals could give- and see how much $ Obama could raise from only individuals with say a $100 per limit.

Why would the media choose to puff Obama? Because at this time in 2007 he was raising tons of money and leading in the polls. This is pretty much the definition of a front-runner. Cain is not a front-runner, therefore he gets scant attention. No agenda here.

So I'm deluded because the media is not trumpeting the 9th place finisher in the New Hampshire polls, the 5th place finisher in the Iowa straw poll, and the 5th best fundraiser in the Republican field, and a guy that was the also ran in the Georgia Senate primary in 2004?

(You can see him on CSPAN.)

    Carry on....

    See his web page at

    www.hermancain.com

He's on the outside chance of gaining the "nod" from the GOP

My top three choices for the GOP "nod" would be Michelle Bachman, Ron Perry, and Mitt Romney

We "proved" that anyone can grow up to become president, even a black person. Don't have to do that, again. <G>

This kind of racial whining is very old. We have a black president and people still ride that old dead horse of racial pity. It is time to get over it. I assure you there are at least 10 white people running, not to mention all the other races, who you will never hear of.

Are you referring to the liberals or conservatives?

Libs actually believe that conservatives HATE Obama because he is black (actually mulatto)

Sorry my friend, I disagree with you here. If Cain had proven himself a viable candidate I don't think his skin colour would have mattered.

    Define 'viable candidate'.

Who or what determines who is a 'viable candidate' and who isn't?

Does the ability to speak in a charismatic manner and raise millions of dollars make one a 'viable candidate'?

Right or wrong I think the answer is yes. President Obama has proven that a proven track record or experience is not necessary. If he had not had the oratorical skills and the Chicago/Daly Machine behind him he would have been in the same boat as Mr Cain.

Agreed. Also Obama was winning polls and primaries. Winning primaries is the very definition of a viable candidate.

I think he was doing that because of the machine behind him. Tired of decades of running fat old white men and losing they came up with an answer that worked, the opposite of what they had been trying.

I happened to be in Illinois back in 2004 when Obama was running. I knew then that he would be president, but I figured it would be 2016 after he has some experience. Apparently they did not want to wait that long.

And that is a sad commentary on how we select our leaders.

Most people know nothing about the candidates but what the media decide to share with them, unless said candidate has either money or a machine behind them. But I guess until we figure a better way to do this (I'm NOT holding my breath ) it is what it is- unfair.

This isn't really new. Why was President Kennedy elected in 1960? He had a better make-up artist for the TV debates.

I don't know. For me and a lot of my friends we knew to much about McCain to vote for him, so we didn't vote BHO, but many of us voted for a 3rd party guy who couldn't win and many just did cast a vote for president. I know among my friends, there was a big backlash against McCain.

As of now Herman Cain could have my vote but he won't win the the Republican primary. As of now as it has been in the last election there isn't a Republican who moves Republicans.
