    I totally agree. It is going to be very difficult, especially since the Supreme Court ruled that huge contributions by corporations cannot be blocked.

    This ruling made folk like you and me totally unimportant in many politicians minds as we cannot match the funds given by corporations.

    I remember Bush appointees testifying that precedent is very important in their decision making. This ruling seems to indicate that precedent is not as important to them as they would have us believe in their confirmation hearings.

    This assumes that donors just want any agreement they can come up with. BY and large American's do not want any more spending or taxes. Balance the budget and pay the debt is the only acceptable answer.

    I do not see the relevance of your response in relation to the OP.

    Large corporations love government spending and as there is no limit on what the can give a politician in supporting his campaign ... who do you think the candidates are really going to listen to when they are in office?

    I support Starbucks CEO's idea ... but I doubt the vested interests are going to withhold funds for the good of America. They will donate for their own good to the detriment of America IMHO.
