Why Ron Paul, he will never gain the GOP nomination-he is too whacky. He's for a nuclear Iran, prostitution and legalized marijuana. Plus he sounds and acts very unpresidential.

Because there is a major disucssion of Ron Paul going on on another BB thread.

I would either not vote or vote for a 3rd. party type, I have done both over the last few elections.

3rd party. I will not vote for anyone with the pro-abortion records of an Obama and Paul. Paul is horribly inconsistent, and Obama is just plain horrible.

He is not for any of those things. He is for getting our troops home, and not fighting endless wars against foreign countries overseas. He notes rightly that Iran does not even have an airforce. Israel is RIGHT THERE, and already has one of the strongest airforces in the world, and more than 300 long range nuclear warheads. He says that the government keeps inventing boogeymen to go after, and he is right. Its ridiculous. We CAN'T keep nuclear weapons from people. If they want them, they are eventually going to get them. So we need to concentrate on defense systems, instead of nation building.

Second, Paul rightly asserts that this is America, and people's private lives are none of our business. It is DUMB to allow people to get drunk on alcohol, but illegalize marijuana. There are thousands of teenagers in prison right now, with their lives ruined, because of weed, while large numbers of fraternity kids get falling down drunk every weekend all across this country. That is the height of stupidity!

Last, as far as him being "unpresidential" that is not true. He is just not the typical politician, that gets up behind the podium and regurgitates well-rehearsed talking points. He speaks plainly, something that I highly admire. He is 100 percent consistent with his voting record. He never votes for something that he says he does not believe in. Unlike all of the others behind the podium (such as Rick Perry and Mitt Romney, who both have proven records of flip-flopping like crazy).

I personally WILL NOT vote for Perry or Romney, and I know a lot of folks in the Republican party that agree with me. I will vote third party. Obama will trounce them in an election, so its Paul, or Obama...

Tom, you need to do some research. Ron Paul has one of the most consistent pro-life positions of any politician in the U.S. He has a few votes that some people try to attack him for (such as his vote against making it a crime to inadvertently harm a fetus during commission of an unrelated crime), but these bills that were voted against were either ridiculous in their application, or had riders that would have actually harmed the pro-life cause.

Ron Paul is actually one of the people who have pushed for a constitutional amendment defining a "person" as beginning at conception.

I also find it odd that you say he is inconsistent. He votes the way he believes, every time, without exception. He doesn't give lip service to one side, while voting the other way.

This is not a fair representation of Paul's record. You are either deliberately telling a lie, or you are severely misinformed.

Bro. Curtis, I researched his record thoroghly and posted it extensively here. Do the search. I wanted with all my heart to support him in '08. Check the CR. It's available. You can also check www.votesmart.org, etc. Compare to the varied statements he makes as well.

    Thanks, friend!

I'd vote for Ron Paul but it would be a "Goldwater" fiasco.

The problem is, these results say the OPPOSITE of what you are saying! You say you researched his record thoroughly, but the very site you point to undermines what you are saying. He is consistently pro-life.

Unlike Perry, who has intentionally killed bills dealing with lessening abortion, stopping the TSA from molesting children, etc.

The fact is that Paul is consistently pro-life, consistently consistent, and courageous. I would like you to give just ONE real example (since you have apparently done so much research), of inconsistency on the part of Rep. Paul?

    Just ONE, please.
