    August 23, 2011 -A STUDY OF THE BOOK OF REVELATION- (1)
    ===============
    Tonight we start a series of lessons....through the book of Revelation:
    And it promises to be wonderful.
    --------------------------------------------------
    -A “WORD BY WORD”.......SERIES-
    “A personal study” through a book is one thing:
    And “preaching” through a book is another thing:
    But “teaching” through a book...is a whole different kettle of fish!
    ===============
    LETS GO TO....... Revelation 1:1
    ===============
    As we saw....in our study through Proverbs:
    Taking this kind of slow & meticulous look at Scripture:
    Is always exciting:
    --------------------------------------------------
    Because it always reveals lots of things:
    That we have never seen before!
    ===============
    V.1A “The Revelation of Jesus Christ,”
    -WHAT.....THIS BOOK IS-
    (A....revelation of Jesus Christ:)
    “Revelation” Lit.(an uncovering)
    --------------------------------------------------
    It reveals...the Person of our Lord Jesus Christ:
    In ways that no other book does:
    ------------------------
    As much as we learn in Matthew, Mark, Luke & John:
    About the Lord Jesus Christ:
    We are going to learn even more about Him here!
    ===============
    V.1B “which God gave unto him,”
    -WHY WE HAVE IT....IN OUR HANDS TODAY-
    (Because the LORD wanted us to:)
    --------------------------
    Therefore He gave it to us through John:
    Then preserved it....until this very moment!
    --------------------------------------------------
    You might be asking..........
    “Preacher, I thought we were through:
    Talking about the preservation of the Bible?”
    ------------------------
    When ever you truly study the Bible:
    It’s hard to get away from...“The doctrine of preservation”!
    ===============
    V.1C “to shew unto his servants”
    -GOD’S PURPOSE.....IN GIVING IT TO US-
    (To show us something:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    Something...He wanted us to be sure of:
    “Our future!”
    ------------------------
    The Lord wants us to clearly see:
    The Glory that awaits the Lord and us!
    --------------------------------------------------
    As we are going to learn:
    It’s much more to it, than...“We win in the end!”
    ===============
    V.1D “things which must shortly come to pass;”
    -A BLUEPRINT.....OF WHAT “WILL COME TO PASS”-
    (Not “might” but “will”...come to pass:)
    ------------------------
    “must” Lit.(It needs to come to pass:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    -A CLUE....TO THE WAY THE LORD VIEWS “TIME”-
    They will.... “shortly come to pass”:
    ------------------------
    With God....“1000 years....is as one day”!
    ===============
    V.1E “and he sent and signified [it]”
    -THE UNIQUE WAY....GOD GAVE THIS BOOK TO JOHN-
    (He “signified” it:)
    ------------------------
    It is mostly.....a series of signs!
    --------------------------------------------------
    He gave John...what He wanted John to write:
    By showing John...what He wanted John to see:
    ------------------------
    Showing him the future: In a pictorial form!
    ===============
    V.1F “by his angel”
    -GOD’S MESSENGER....THAT WAS SENT TO JOHN-
    (With the power...to show John the future:)
    -By a series of images:-
    --------------------------------------------------
    That weren’t an actual picture of the future:
    But a depiction.....of the future!
    ------------------------
    This is how God chose:
    To reveal the future to us:
    In a way that doesn’t put all the answers:
    In our face..........
    Qt. Proverbs 25:2
    “[It is] the glory of God to conceal a thing:
    but the honour of kings [is] to search out a matter.”

    ------------------------
    It is an honorable thing:
    To search for answers in God’s Word!
    ===============
    V.1G “unto his servant John:”
    -THE MAN GOD CHOSE TO USE....TO PEN IT-
    (John:)
    --------------------------------------------------
    Someone who God knew:
    Would faithfully record exactly what he saw:
    Without adding “ANYTHING” to it:
    ------------------------
    This is the same quality that Paul & Peter & the others had;

    The ability to step back from their own personal prejudices:
    And simply write the “words” God wanted them to write!
    ===============

    The book of Revelation is about what was, what is, and what will be.

    It's not just a lesson about good triumphing over evil.

    I'm going to a bible study tonight at church and we will be studying Revelation. Can't wait. :thumbs:
