    Hello, I am new here.

One thing I as a conservative "don't toe the party line on" so to speak is that I support the legalization of marijuana as studies actually show it is less harmful than tobacco or alcohol and I hope nobody argues tobacco or alcohol should be banned-indeed many conservatives have argued against banning smoking in public places too.

I have no issues with outlawing alcohol and tobacco.

I also have no issue with legalizing marijuana for medical use only.

I am taking an educated guess that you consider yourself a conservative. ( Myself, I AM a Conservative).

However, I am sure that there are ponts to a conservative agenda or the Conservative Party platform you might disagree with.

If so, would you still be conservative conservative?

What aspect of conservatism is violated by supporting the legalisation of marijuana?

    Salty,
[SIZE=+0]I have been accused of being a fundamentalist, conservative, liberal, moderate, non believer, and many other things. So I really don't normally make claims to any title since today there seems to be no clear standard to determine what a particular title stands for and in this case the term is conservative and in my response I made no personal claim to being a conservative. It seems that even the claim of what makes one a Baptist is no loner clear to many so much of the titles are a mute point.
[SIZE=+0][SIZE=+0]However in my mind as to what a conservative is it is someone who holds to the teachings of God and does not stray to the left or right and I do not think of it as being someone who claims to be a Christian and supports the legalization of taking of recreational drugs. To me that is a liberal or more likely someone who is lost while to another it may be seen as something different.
So really what title I hold is held in another's eyes and not mine because of the skewing of the meanings held by each person.

[SIZE=+0]C4K since there seems to be no clear standard for the term "conservative" I suppose the violation is only in the mind of the one seeing what they deem as a violation. However if recreational drugs are not a violation for a conservative claim, which I make no claim of being one, it is certainly a violation of God's standards, and to me, and what I understand as being a conservative, such a stance as supporting recreational drugs negates the claim.
