I heard a quick sound bite today stating Dr. David Jeremiah has some dirt on Perry concerning somekind of Muslim issue. Has anyone heard of this?

Not exactly. Dr. Jeremiah actually supports him for the most part. Here is an article on what you asked. You will see it is not about Dr. Jeremiah claiming dirt but about him calling for Governor Perry to respond to the claim of dirt.

I agree! I have very little respect for Mr. Land as he holds or at least held the position of head of ethics in the SBC and I listened to him claim in an interview it was acceptable to God to lie under certain circumstances. By the way the interviewer was as shocked at his statement as was I.

Uh, yeah. To protect the innocent and prevent injustice. What about the many Germans who protected various Jews during the holocaust? I suppose they should have told the Nazis where the Jewish men, women and children were?

I suppose you believe the command is "Thou shall not Kill" instead of "Thou shall not murder"? So Christians can't serve in the army or put the guilty to death?

Its about intent. The Hebrew word for lie includes the intent to betray legitimate authority.

I wasn't to happy when Land wrote to President Obama about the evils of having a beer.

Actually you are incorrect about the Hebrew word for lie includes the intent to betray legitimate authority. If you notice in all of Paul's writings he could have lied many times to protect himself or others as well as Peter and the rest but they understood the command.
Your scenario for doing good by doing evil is not uncommon today. We are to trust in the Lord, obey the law as long as that law does not go against the direct command of God. Trust the Lord and He will provide. So Uh, no, don't lie.

Example, please. You cannot cite a single example of Peter or Paul turning over an innocent party to an illegitimate authority to be killed. Please name one.

If a murderer with a gun asks you if you know where the little girl he is trying to murder is hiding, and you tell him the truth, THAT is evil. Misdirecting him (telling him the wrong place to look) in order to save her life, is GOOD, not evil.

I never said to turn over anyone. Have you been eating some bad dog food causing you to see things that are not there?

Now I know the dog food was bad. Just refuse to tell him anything and stop trying to justify sin by calling sin good.

In Jesus' day it was considered sin to do work on the Sabbath.

You could keep the law by circumcising that day, but they wanted to kill Jesus for healing a man on the Sabbath.

Keeping the letter of the law while defeating it's spirit is sin.

Great balls of fire, something we agree on! But if he did somehow actually shut up, would we know the Ethics and Liberty people are actually doing something other then collecting a pay check? Somehow I doubt it.

Land is a dolt as far as I am concerned, why anyone would want to know what he thinks is beyond me.

Good to see the perceived leadership of the SBC continues its unfettered, unrelenting, uncompromising endorsements of Republican candidates.

If I was to ever attend an annual convention (which I never will) the sole purpose would be to either vote for or make the floor resolution to dissolve all extraneous agencies of the SBC, allow Lifeway to become its own regulating entity, and end the annual convention gathering. All decisions can be made at satellite meetings in individual state convention headquarters. The remaining dollars can be used to start new churches and expand the Great Commission abroad.

Can you explain these passages in light of the fact that Rahab LIED to the inquisitors?

By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. (Heb 11)

Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? (James 2)

See above post. Please explain Rahab, who lied to the king...

Jos 2:4 But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. And she said, "True, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from.
Jos 2:5 And when the gate was about to be closed at dark, the men went out. I do not know where the men went.Pursue them quickly, for you will overtake them."

AND YET the Bible calls this a good thing...

Jas 2:25 And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?

Heb 11:31 By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.

Yes, keep in mind that Rahab was a pagan harlot. She had no understanding of the standards of God. What she did was done in the only way she could understand from her pagan background. She was believing in God with the limited knowledge she had and God counted it for faith. He is not condoning her lies but He is accepting her faith even in the mist her sin. He still does that today.
In this discussion it is about what the Christian does who knows God commands not to lie and some trying to justify their lies by claiming they did good. Such a claim mocks at the Holiness of God. Can you show me one passage where God lies to do good?

Did Joseph & Mary lie when they hid Jesus Christ from King Herod ?

They sure were not submissive to the local authorities, were they ?
