Will this story scupper Palin's chances for the Republican nomination once and for all? Or will the Religious Right turn a blind eye to it? Or is it a barrel of hogwash?

    You decide!

No Palin fan by any means, but I don't believe this on such scanty evidence

I saw an interview with the author on TV yesterday on MSNBC (I think it was).

He admitted that the book was all unsubstantiated allegations - you know gossip as it is normally called.

He said that he interviewed about 200 people - none of which were friends of Palin because her friends would not talk to him.

IOW - he found a bunch of people that personally don't like Palin and asked for their opinion of her.

BTW - the guy that he claims had s@x with her was quoted as saying that his relationship with Palin was "very respectful" and says that it did not happen.

The book is trash - which is the current acceptable level of journalism when reporting on conservatives/Republicans.

It used to be called "yellow journalism".

So, thus far, we're tending towards the 'hogwash' option...

I am not a fan of Sarah Palin, but this is Nothing but tabloid trash and it has no business on the BB.

She is far from my favourite politician, but this is even more absurd than some of the Obama stuff - and that's quite a feat :)

Did you say that about Anthony Wiener...or on the Obama 'Scandal threads'?

Even if every word is true it does not raise nor lower my opinion of SP. There is no one alive who has not done something or many things that we wish we had not done.

The past is past, the now is now and the future is ahead of us. My concern is what would she do with and to our future if she were elected president.

That being said I believe Matt is onto something. How many good folk on the BB who refused ad nauseam, to accept that Obama was a natural born citizen or that he is not a follower of Islam are now willing to cut SP all kinds of slack. Hey, "What is good for the goose is good for the gander" as I mom used to say.

This should be on BB - as has been stated, it is basically gossip and trash - yet liberals (ie Stephanie Miller Radio show) are having a heyday with it. We need to know the truth and be able to back it up with facts.

    fully agree

Again I agree - however there was a difference - there were vaild concerns about the issues regarding Obama.
With SP - it is all simpliy gossip.

From a legal point of view, I would vote to "indicite" Obama on his birth certificate - but after looking at the facts would vote to find him "innoncent" of the charges.

What has been brought out on SP so far, a DA would not even bring "charges" let alone would a jury "indict" her
    Once again I fully agree

Disagree - most of the Obama stuff was pure gossip as well. A Muslim? Not a natural born citizen? Going to take his oath on the Koran? Going to attend the local mosque when we got into the White House? He and Michelle took separate planes because their marriage is in trouble?

It was wrong then - and it is wrong now. It is all tabloid trash, but there is no reason to ban any of it unless it violates the rules of the BB.

Roger, that is not 100% true. We did post about his philosophies, his associations, and his lack of substance.

I never mentioned the Muslim issue - I realize others did.

But IMHO the birth certificate issue did have some potential initial concerns. (remember it first was brought up by fellow Democrat Hilliary)
What I was concerned about was the facts of the birth certificate. My problem was that BO was being so secretive about it. That in itself raised some red flags. OTOH some said the issue came under the heading of "the tail waging the dog". Key word FACTS

It's trash journalism at its worse. Terrible that people care about this foolishness. It bears nothing to how someone will lead.

Just another distraction to keep people from thinking about our real problems. Looks like it's working.

I agree that it is pure trash and gossip, something we should avoid, but I disagree that it has nothing to do with how one would lead if true. If a person shows that they have been irresponsible in their own life then there is no reason to believe they can lead a nation. The problem with this is how it is being handled even if true.
