I didn't watch the video because the kids are working right now and it would be distracting but I disagree with what they did. We do not have anything in common with the Muslim faith. We do not serve the same God, we do not have the same holy book, we do not even begin to be in the same place. What does light have to do with darkness? To have yoked themselves together with that which is against God was wrong.

While I agree, I must even go farther. My mom´s dad came here from Germany in the early 1900´s and he was not accommodated! He had to take his citizenship test in English and he swore the oath in English before he was naturalized. My Grandfather never wore leather shorts, he wore a stetson, shirt and jeans from the Levi´s company and Cowboy Boots, he was a Texan, through and through!

I am learning Spanish but... I refuse to accommodate any Spanish Speaker that does not try to speak to me in English and that principal extends to everything in my life. Add to that the thoughts from my looking at their Qu´ran and I have extreme issues with them! 164 times in their ?holy? book my extermination is required! This is easily verified with a Google search for 164 Jihad verses.

Then, as I have sought to know them, both by association and study, I have learned that they are taught that it is holy for them to lie to me for the advancement of their World Conquest... so tell me, please, how do I ever trust one of them, even the ones born here?

I think it's another step toward the one world religion of Chrislam.

Great idea to build bridges.. IF this wasn't billed as an interfaith service.
This could have been a great community project if set in the proper light..

I wouldn't even object to using the church property to help build community relations... but I draw the line at worshiping together.

Right...you could even invite the homosexual community and you could all sit around and sing kumbaya. What fun that would be...

Interfaith events are important and should be done more. Though it is troubling that this was done at in a church rather than community center this event will likely have positive results.

The Islamic faith, while being completely different than Christianity, is misunderstood and itself misunderstands. One of the things we do is a bus tour of a mosque, synagogue, Hindu temple, and Buddhist prayer garden to help expose our people to these groups and expose those groups to us. We have seen positive results from these exchanges. :)

Have you read the Koran? The only non violent Muslims are the ones who don't really believe their own religion.

    Whatever happened to:

3 Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. 4 For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Muslims deny that Jesus is God. This is plainly written in their holy(?) book. Christians have no reason to gather with Muslims.

I am a little surprised at the responses. I see this as good but done poorly or improperly. First there is always danger in this kind of thing as there are always those weak in the faith that can be led astray into false doctrine which harms their faith. There needs to be precautions taken to protect those people and it was clear in the video it was not done. If this would be done with a selected group who are mature in the Lord then I think it is great since the intent is to win them to the Lord while protecting the flock from error.

How do you protect the flock from error while inviting wolves in among the sheep?

Even the mature can be led astray. None of us are immune to deception.

At what point in my reply did I ever say that I agree with, condone, teach, or accept Muslim theology or practice?

Replace Muslims with Christians, and Koran with The Bible in your sentence and see what you think.

...except perhaps to get along in this world with our neighbors. How will your light shine hidden away from others?

    Where is the like button?

I'm sorry but I've spoken to our missionaries who have had extensive experience with Islam. Peaceful Islam is a lie. It's like saying that the Bible says that Jesus died for everyone's sins so everyone is going to heaven and no one is going to hell. Take a little bit out of context and make a doctrine of it - but it's not true. Same with Islam.

Untrue. I have several very good friends of many years who are Muslim, and are wonderful people.

Yes, I believe that there are nice Muslims - but they do not follow their faith as written in the Koran. If they did, you would be dead.

Before we continue, maybe a strawpole is in order:

So how many of us, commenting on the Koran, have actually read the Koran...completely?

I admit I have not. I'd rather spend my time reading God's Word. I don't believe that I have to read it completely in order to be able to comment on what is written in it - and I would need to understand the culture and beliefs behind the writing just as someone would need to understand the Christian culture and beliefs behind the writing of the Bible as well. Things like understanding what the Testaments are. Who the people were. That sort of thing. However, I have spoken to people who have studied the Muslim religion more than just reading the Koran. They lived it. They now minister to those in that false faith. So I trust what they have to say about it.
