Might seem to be "splitting hairs" here, or subtle, but it just seems that there are some hear that hold to the words taht we speak to others sharing the Gospel have "maic" in the words...

Wouldn't it more biblical to say that the HS does use the words we speak to do his work to bring repentance/faith et to the other party, but that it is really the Cross of Chrsit that saves?

that the HS works through the words we speak, AND grants faith/repentance to those whom God has decided on to 'wake up?"

    What’s wrong with "splitting hairs":
Heaven and Hell.....are in the details!
    --------------------------------------------------
Our words have NO POWER at all.

People need God’s Word....to be born again........
    John 5:24
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

It may seem obvious, but I think it would be good to remind ourselves that it is not simply a turning back to God that we need. That is, It is also not simply the receiving of a message that we need. There has been real offence, our sin against God. A real debt to be paid.

So I'm saying that the message of the bible, "draw near to God", "believe in Him", "Call upon the name of the Lord." would not solve our problem if Jesus had not actually died on the cross. It is not simply, "I turned away from God and now need to turn back." There is a real sin barrier that had to be dealt with on the cross, or God would not have received me.

So The Cross is what provides what is needed for salvation, the Gospel is just that, the "Good news" of what Christ has done, that I must receive by faith.

They both are necessary. If Jesus did not die on the cross for us and rise from the dead, our sins could not be forgiven. He had to offer his blood on the mercy seat.

But we must hear the gospel to believe upon Jesus. You cannot trust in Jesus if you have never heard of him. (Rom 10:14)

If Jesus's death, burial, and resurrection alone saved us, there would be no need to preach the gospel. If Jesus had not died for us, there would be no gospel to preach.

Almost. If Jesus had not died, been buried, and resurrected there would be no Gospel to preach. You can't leave out any part, otherwise it is not the Gospel.

The CROSS is what actually saves us, as THAT was where jesus atoned for my sins...

Faith is "just" the bridge to access that Grace, to have it applied on my behalf...

just saying it appears some might fall into the flasehood that its our faith that saves us, its not, its the Cross of Christ!
