I don't understand. Do you think Hank Williams Jr. is going to lose millions of dollars of royalty money because ESPN is not going to play his song once a week anymore before the start of Monday Night Football?

There is no need to compare the current President to Hitler. The comparison is ridiculous and foolish. Williams needed to apologize for such a crass remark. Whatever you think about our President (and I know he is loathed by many around here) it is not a proper response, and not nearly realistic, to compare him to such a terrible human being.

I guess Godwin's Law applies to everything now.

 

ok, everybody please pay attention. Hank Williams junior did not, not, NOT compare Obama to Hitler. There is a difference between a COMPARISON and an ANALOGY. Let's look at examples.

Comparison: The drought conditions in Texas are like the dust bowl days of the 1930s. [This is a direct comparing of two things.]

Analogy: The amount of rain falling in this normally arid region is as bizarre as a 100 degree Christmas in Wisconsin. [This compares only the extremity of the two conditions. It does NOT directly compare rainfall to heat. See the difference?]

Comparison: Scott Walker = Adolph Hitler [This is a direct comparison of Walker to Hitler. This exact text has appeared on many signs held by liberal/union protestors here in Wisconsin at the demonstrations in our state capital of Madison.]

Analogy: (Williams' actual statement, in regards to the golf outing by Obama and Boehner "It would be like Hitler playing golf with Benjamin Netanyahu." [This does NOT compare anyone directly to Hitler. It only compares an obviously absurd (fictional) situation to another situation to illustrate the absurdity of the second situation.]

Are we clear now? Btw, there has never been any uproar from liberals in or out of the media over the direct comparisons of Walker to Hitler, nor any suggestion that teachers who made these comparisons should lose their jobs. Yet these same people are indignant over a conservative country artist who did NOT compare Obama to Hitler, but merely used both of them in an analogy to illustrate something he found absurd. Granted, it was poor judgment on Williams' part to use Hitler in the analogy, but to anyone with any kind of an open mind what he said is not offensive or deserving of punishment or ostracism. Of course, to liberals facts are never important if there's an opportunity to bash a conservative.

 

You may be technically correct...but the media has already turned it into a comparison. Compared to the outcry, your voice of reason is a tiny grain of sand on a very large beach....

 

Hank Williams Jr. should know by now to keep his mouth shut about politics. Anyone who has to watch even just a little bit of T.V. knows 98% of the entire print & broadcast media is completely in love with the zero.

If I may add, Hank Jr. has over 60 records out. And I don't own a single one. I have everything his dad recorded, and even 2 Hank III records, but no Jr..
