Any online books or preachers to recommend for newbies?

    Hi everyone. I am relatively new to the Baptist denomination.

    Are there any websites with books or sermons that explain the Baptist beliefs clearly for newcomers?

    I don't know if you have read your own churches Baptist faith and message I would recommend you start with that here is a SBC's.

    Here are some good links. The first is a free bible software program.

    www.e-sword.net

    After you install this, follow the instructions on how to download within this program itself all of the modules (books, commentaries & c)

    Here are links for more free modules with literally hundreds of free books, commentaries, devotionals, topical helps and theological works which will install into the free e-sword Bible program above:

    www.biblesupport.com (you will need to register here, but there are hundreds of free books that will install into your e-sword bible program above)

    If you need an unzip program, go to www.c-net.com and download winzip, or google winzip and download their free trial version. This will help you unzip some of the compressed folders right into the Bible program.

    Quite a while back I checked their website and all I could find (re doctrine) was a vision statement.

    depends if you lean towards Dispy/Covenant theology, spirital gifts ceased/continued today, if one holds to calvinism/Arminianism etc!

    As there are websites for each baptist view!

    Welcome to BB, what church background before baptist?

    Also, E-Sword very good, as is a bible program called the Word!

    I think the more I have read and listened to the more sympathetic I have become towards Calvinism overall and spiritual gifts ceased.
    I have been to a lot of different denominations because I have moved around Australia a lot (husband's just got out of the army) and I went to churches closest to me as I don't drive.
    *Brought up Roman Catholic (then read Bible and realised how it contradicted Bible's teachings in parts)
    *in my late teens went to a Baptist Church for a while where I actually heard the Gospel preached
    *went to a Uniting Church which turned non-denominational/charismatic (pastor rejected pro-gay position of Uniting Church's rulings in late 90s)
    *went to a Assembly's of God church (an acquaintance claimed it was a bit too quiet - ha ha !!!!)
    *then period of being in outback, only Roman Catholic church nearby - turned to books and sermons online. I then realised why overall I was most comfortable at that Baptist Church. It was the place where I had actually heard the Bible preached properly and in context.
    *So when our family moved to Adelaide last Christmas, I managed to get my husband to chose the house closest to a Baptist Church, where I was immediately comfortable and knew I was ready to be baptised.

    I was saved by God while in University, attended an Assemblies of God, then Evangeklical Free Church, now a local Baptist church!

    Paul's Epistles. They are between the New Testament Acts of the Apostles and Hebrews. It's around 50 pages.
    Read it and then re-read it. It is specifically for Gentile (non Jew) believers.
