Does he reveal the word of God apart from your texts/tools, or?

I've always had a hard time figuring things like this out. If we have no need of a teacher (1 John) yet a clear qualification for an elder is to teach, then how does this all fit together? What is illumination along w/ the study of God's word? Is there more illumination to be gained by studying what other people have been illumined to?

Looking forward to hearing some discussion on this. Good topic.

is this related in some fashion to the "annoiting" that ALl of us have from/by the HS, per Apostle John?

Is the Illumination referring more towards wisdom that he gives us to understand/apply the truth of the scriptures?
that we still need to use valid study principles/tools to glean from the scriptures, but he comes to show us 'what to do with what we know?"

Also, can it be referring to discerning IF a doctrine/theology is of God or not?
