Serious question. I got to thinking, after Jesus raised him from the dead, I don't believe the Bible speaks about him dying at a later date in time.

Does anyone have an answer to the question of what happened to Lazarus?

Is he still alive and well somewhere in the world today, waiting for Jesus to come again? Or, did he die again?

Last I read----he was at a feast with the Lord Jesus!!!!

But after being raised from the dead ONCE-----I really, really don't believe it would bother Laz(can I call him that??) to die again!!

The Bible says ------ whether we live or whether we die----- we are the Lord's!!!!:thumbs:

Is this serious? Does the Bible have to tell us he died for us to safely assume he did?

    This really can't be serious.

Yes he died again. He was raised still in his mortal flesh, so he had to die again in order to be raised immortal and receive a new body.

The wages of sin is death. So, yes, Lazarus died again. The widow woman whose only son had died, Jesus raised him up from the dead also. And yes, it's safe to say, that he died again, also.

Of course he died again. Actually church tradition has him being martyred for his faith I believe.

Tradition states; The Church of Saint Lazarus in the modern city of Larnaca is said to be built over the second tomb of Lazarus, in which he was interred following a death from natural causes some 30 years after his initial demise. Lazarus’s bodily remains, the story goes on, were moved in 890 AD from that tomb to Constantinople at the behest of Byzantine emperor Leo VI, known as "the Wise." This was perhaps not the wisest of moves, in that a mere 300 years later crusaders sacked Constantinople and despoiled it of various saints’ relics, Lazarus's among them. His remains were supposedly brought back to Marseilles by the Franks, and from there lost to history.

Another traditional source states; The Roman Catholic, or Western, church holds that Lazarus ended up in France as well, but in this version he gets there while still breathing. Lazarus, Mary, and Martha, along with Saint Maximin and others, are said to have been set upon by "paynims" – not literal pagans in this case, but Jews unconvinced by Christian religious claims – and cast adrift in a boat without oars, sails, or rudder. The Golden Legend, a medieval compilation of saints' lives by Jacobus de Voragine, recounts that "by the conduct of our Lord they came all to Marseilles," where Lazarus spread the gospel and eventually became bishop. He is said to have survived the persecution of Christians by the Roman emperor Nero by hiding in a crypt, appropriately enough, but fared worse during subsequent persecution by the emperor Domitian, when he was captured and beheaded. His body was supposedly taken to the city of Autun in eastern France and interred under the cathedral there; his head is said to have remained in Marseilles as a venerated relic.

Lazarus was not resurrected in the full sense that he received a glorified and eternal body. He was though dead, and brought back to life.

I was taught that those Jesus raised from the dead in His earthly ministry were ressusetated not ressurected. There in lies the difference, as we see folks ressuetated today.

I am not sure about resuscitation, being dead a few days. It was beyond that in scope, but I get what you are meaning.

    Yeah. LOL.

Somehow, I think with that spelling the spell check program would've burned up!!!!

Was fun and a good laugh, not at your expense, just as brother to brother.

If he is still alive, I hope he didn't get sentenced (rightly or wrongly) to life without parole (which some on here prefer to the death penalty).

    I Thought the Same....

....LOL Thanks for enlightening me and others!

I came across this question in a youth class quiz game, and thought it would be interesting to get your feed back. The look on the faces of the teens was priceless as they searched the Bible and their minds for an answer. The one I liked was along the lines of Webdog. He still lives today, somewhere in Hollywood, CA.

Great question. I actually wrote a novel centered around that idea. Of course it sits unpublished next to my other novels.

So what was your conclusion? Did he die again or is he still alive somewhere?

In my fictional work, yes he was alive. At one point he quotes "It is appointed unto man ONCE to die" he already did that, now he waits for the judgement.

Of course that was a work of fiction, but I think it would be a neat idea. There are two men in scripture that did not die at all, Enoch and Elijah. Of course there are also two prophets who testify and are killed in Revelation. I kind of think they might be the same two guys.

As for the novel, find me a publisher and you can read the whole thing.

    Have You Thought About...

....Self Publishing? If you have around seven hundred dollars, Createspace (subsidiary of Amazon.com) will publish it for you, and your royalties will be a lot better than a name-brand publisher would pay.

My roualties are 8 times more than what a name publisher wanted to pay me.

If you go with them, please tell them rev. Paul Zimmer sent you, and save some money.. :type:
