I thought it would be interesting for people on the BB to create a list of questions, "The last time ........."

    I'll start.

When was the last time you were in a car that did not have a radio?

I don't ever remember being in a car without a radio.

When was the last time you bought new shoes?

In the late 1980's. It was Blue Mazda (323? GLC?, I think it was after the GLC was retired). The car later had a radio added, but was purchased without a radio.

July 2010. My nephew had just bought a 1936 Plymouth and I was given a ride in it.

    June 2011.

When is the last time you listened to music on a vinyl LP being played on a turntable?

Ha! Good one! When was the last time I didn't have a cell phone (or as I call it--the ball and chain?)

Must have been the late 90's.

At my parent's house when I still lived there. It would have been 1980.

I have a friend with a 1924 Studebaker. Last time I saw it was in the mid-90's. Last time I saw it being driven was the early 90's.

If American "stick shift" = British "manual" (as opposed to "automatic"), then yesterday. (My car has manual gear-change, as do many, if not most in the UK).

When was the last time you watched an analogue tv (as opposed to digital)?

Most people who drive a car with a stick shift don't know how to drive a car with a stick shift.

Back in 1962 I was hitch hiking (when's the last time . . . ) and got a ride with an old timer driving an old tractor (no syncros) and semitrailer (no such thing as a semi truck). The only time he used a clutch was when starting from a dead stop. I drove a '60 VW 100,000 miles on the original clutch. Don't remember if I ever had a new one put in before I sold it.

The VW Beatle was an amazing post-war German missionary, and it lasted forever. I think the heater, if you had one, used more petrol than the vehicle itself....500 miles on a tank of petrol.

    Cheers,

    Jim
