Unfortunately they probably won't tell anyone that they got rejected either.

I remember about 6-7 years ago they were in the works to get Regional accreditation. All of the promo materials touted their candidacy and all of that. All of a sudden any mention of accreditation candidacy just disappeared from the website, catalog, and other promo materials.

They never really had a chance... My suspicion is that they knew that but went through the process anyway to get 'in the meantime' enrollment (which was what their prior candidacy with the Middle States was all about). No legitimate accreditation org will touch this school, ever.

But I doubt they will go away.

I just don't understand people wanting to get "degrees" from a place like this. What is the point? Even having the moniker "dr." to their name means little when you look and see from where it was granted. Sad.

I think a lot of people go into it with the best of intentions. For the majority I think some don't think about accreditation as being important. For a lot of those people schools like Trinity put up a very good front, however when you dig deeper you find out it's not as great as it sounds.

There are others that go to places like this with less than honest intentions... that is another topic for another thread that's been covered in the past.

I knew two people pursuing Trinity programs back when Trinity claimed an accreditation through a British school (before the U of Wales thing). They were attracted by the cost and they were a little uninformed about how that 'accreditation' was viewed by the rest of the academic world. But they weren't just after some prestige; they wanted to learn. With one guy it took only a 'semester' before he realized their rigor was substandard at best. The other guy finished his undergraduate at Trinity and sought admission at several seminaries. He ended doing another B.A. at a real school and is currently pursuing his M.Div. through Liberty.

The Trinity "Newburgh" distinction is usually made to differentiate between Trinity Theological Seminary (Unaccredited and topic of discussion here) which is in Newburgh Indiana as opposed to Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (often referred to as "TEDS") which is outside of Chicago in Deerfield Illinois and is accredited and highly respected.

I'm not sure about a third school called Newburgh if that is what you are speaking of???

I may be wrong, but I thought a moderator here has a doc from T.

I took some classes from Trinity in the late 90s. PhD courses were at MA level, then. And, one got a Liverpool sticker on his diploma for an extra $225. Now that was a bargain!

What exactly makes Newburgh so bad??? I haven't had a paper graded yet but I do know a few people who said the way they grade papers is pretty stringent. The only down side I have seen so far is that are non denominational. Although you are allowed when approved to switch books for one that's denominationally based.
