'Must" The person Vote For be A Christian?

I think it is impractical to always vote for a Christian. What about the christian in Turkey. They may never elect a Christian Candidate? Some parts of Utah may force them to vote between two LDSers.

I doubt most of the people I voted for were Christians.

 

Utah is in the United States. When I lived in New York, I doubt if I voted for a Christian in any state election. I am in the Congressional District of a US Representative that I will vote for next year despite him not being a Christian.

To me, the issues are the first priority. If all things were equal, I would vote for a Christian over a non-Christian. However, I never have made a decision where I had to choose between two equal people, but one was a Christian and the other was not.

 

You are free to vote for a christian, but when leading a nation you should vote for the person most capable for the job, just like in any profession. My "vote" so to speak will go to a physician who's capable to do a job over one who is a christian and less capable and you can apply that to fixing cars, roofing, plumbing, etc.

 

Depends on the person. Someone can be lost with good morals and intentions due to how they were raised.

 

I don't impose a religious litmus test for a candidate as a first condition of my vote. Rather I consider their positions, how they've conducted themselves, their fitness for office, etc as primary considerations. My reasons are many but the primary one is because way too many politicians wear Christianity as a coat which covers them when they see fit yet live a life opposed to the ways of Jesus.

Politicins are nothing more than flim-flam artists seeking to sell themselves to the highest bidder.

Also: JesusFan, I too type on an iPhone often when posting here and take time to edit my posts as best I can (in fact I've made 3 corrections in this extra note alone.) Please, please, please try to form and present proper grammatical thoughts before you hit reply or post. I'm not expecting perfection but at least some semblance of an attempt.

God can work through whomever God chooses. I would vote for policy.

 

The requirements for a candidate to get my vote are based on policy and capability. Though I'd prefer to see a christian in office, in national-level politics the label is one often claimed by candidates to gain votes, so I treat it with skepticism. If he wants to call himself a christian, that's fine. I just don't put much stock in such claims before the votes have been cast.

I do not think that, given the conflicts we are presently in, it would be a good idea to have a muslim as C-in-C. Just my opinion.

 

I'm with Web doggy dog!!! When I have trouble with termites-----I want somebody to come over that knows just a wee tad about ---- termites!!! If I'm home while he's inspecting the house----I have opportunity to ask him about his relation with the Lord Jesus

There's a lot of Christian mechanics that I have written off because they don't know "diddly" about cars!!!!

There are lots of lost folks out there that know what they're doing with whatever you have to repair or whatever-----give them opportunity to work and then ask them about their relation with the Lord Jesus!!!

It is sort of like asking should we always seek a Christian Doctor? Well I would say yes if they know what they are doing. However if a man is a Christian and loses most of his patients and another not a Christian and saves most of his patients I would choose the non Christian.

If possible our vote should be for those who stand for Christian values. Some non Christians do that and some who claim to be Christians do not so we should always seek those to lead who hold to biblical values even if they are not Christians. The best would be a Christian who held to the biblical values, but it is not a mandate they be Christian.
