Mohler interviews Thomas Kidd here. He addresses a part of history that is very important to me and I find much of what he says as very solid. I think it would be worthy for any pastor to listen to this discussion.

I believe in organic link by link succession through reproducton of like kind of New Testament congregations. I believe this on the basis of scripture alone as there is not sufficient proof in secuar history even to document organic link by link sucession through reproduction ANY HUMAN BEING back to Adam or any other living thing back to Genesis and yet it would be ludicrous to deny their link by link reproductive cycle back to the Garden.

I base this upon the grammar and structure of the Great Commission as found in Matthew 28:19-20 as spelled out in practical detail in Acts 2:41-42. Can you find any congregation in the book of Acts that was not constituted by an EXPLICITLY CLEAR unbaptized, unchurched believer?

My contention is that only disciples can make disciples and a disciple of Christ has three characteristics (1) saved by the SAME gospel; (2) Baptized with the SAME baptism and (3) Assembled to be taught how to observe all things or else they cannot teach anyone else what they are not taught. These characteritics are impossible to obtain without organic contact between disciple and disciplee.

How does this statement relate to the conversation with Mohler and Kidd?

I went to the sight you gave and nothing showed up to read. However, being a former Southern Baptist myself and having studied their views I know there is a division within their ranks over this issue. I knew former Professors of Southern Baptist Seminaries that taugh the Landmark position (Dr. Roy O. Beaman, Dr. David David Skinner, etc.). I also know the position of Southern Seminary since the time of J.R. Graves on this issue. Albert Mohler is the president of Southern Seminary and his position on Church history is in my opinion an apostate ecclesiastical position, which finds "the church" in Rome between the fourth and sixteenth century with Baptists the product of the Reformation.

This is the thread on "Baptist History" is it not? Your topic is on Baptist History?

This was not a written article, but an audio interview. THe issue of landmarkism was not discussed.

Well, perhaps my statement would be better suited for the thread entitled "from the beginning."

    Thank you.

P.S. BTW what was discussed in that audio interview?

I read the interview which filled in some points on Patrick Henry and other founding fathers. Verified: no state religion was not a popular position. Reinforced: the founding fathers were a hodgepodge of deists, theists, masons, papists and a few real Christians(followers of Christ). Also, verified Great Awakening is very Protestant-like. Where does Joseph Smith fit?

I also concluded that these gentlemen(in the interview) believe True Baptists came from Protestants who came from Rome. That is historic and scholastic dishonesty. The trail of blood will not go away. Will the real Baptists fall in and sound off.

"We wrestle not against flesh and blood; but against spiritual wickedness in high places"

    Even so, come Lord Jesus.

    Peace,
    Bro. James

    Mr. "Biblicist,"

I am an alum of Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary having graduated in 1985. I have maintained a relationship with the seminary on some level ever since. I have even done some writing and editing with the current president and count him as a friend.

Having said all of that for credentials sake and having studied under Dr. Roy Beaman and Dr. David Skinner, Skinner never to my knowledge ever taught anywhere but MABTS. Now if I am wrong I need to be corrected. It is possible that he taught at NOBTS without that knowledge ever being known to me.

So then am I to gather that you are a "Landmarker!?" If so then you will like to know that Dr. James Patterson of Union University has just published a volume on J.R.Graves.

And I am not sure that I would say that Dr. Al Mohler takes an "apostate ecclesiastical position." If I said it dear sir, I am not sure I would put it in print in a public medium such as this.

But then again I am an alum of SBTS and have written concerning its Founders and have good friends and colleagues still there.

Please do not take my comments harshly, more questioning that harsh or for debate. Can you please clarify concerning these issues?

    "That is all!"

Some Kibbitzing: "All the disciples forsook Him and fled" The Truth of the matter causes many to flee--it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of The Living God. The gates of hell have assailed but not prevailed. There is still a remnant--and a trail of blood. Jesus is faithful--even when we are not.

    Peace,
    Bro. James
Credentials: born again--from above. What is in your wallet? Will it stand up at the Bema Seat?
