I dislike the Duggars for the most part. But it has more to do with them putting the kids on tv than the number of them they have. (I really hate "reality tv" its such an invasion of privacy and that includes the privacy of the kids who have no choice in the matter)

Agreed. I also have a problem with turning your children into additional parents to manage your large family. Let the kids be kids and hire family staffing if that is what you need. It's not even a matter of the older kids "helping out", they are assigned a child to manage. There is something wrong when a child has to sign up a week in advance for one on one time with a parent (only a one hour block).

Actually it's #21; they lost one between their firstborn and their first set of twins.

They wouldn't watch it if we did FoS. Tv is a tool of Satan don't you know. They "protect" their children from it's unholy influence. (something else I disagree with. there is something to be said about not tossing the baby out with the bathwater)

A friend of mine was pregnant with her 6th and someone asked her "Don't you ever watch TV?" She had heard that before and had a PERFECT response: "Sure - I watch over my husband's shoulder. Why?"

When she told me that I thought I was going to choke on my tea!

They actually have a television, but they carefully monitor what their children watch, just as they monitor what they do on the computer. I don't see anything wrong with that. It's not any different than us not allowing our children to watch horror flicks or inappropriate cartoons.

Yes, in a previous thread it was discussed how they have a small TV they bring out of the closet on special occasions, like to watch parents Michelle and Jimbob appear live on "the View".

Even then, Little Joy keeps an eagle eye out for exposed arms, etc., and barks out warnings for her brothers to avert their eyes.

I've seen episodes where the older girls have a code word that they yell out for their brothers to avert their eyes from women with exposed arms, necks, or well....anything other than hands, faces, or ankles.

That struck me as quite creepy. I'm sure that the Duggar boys have spotted "skin" LONG before their sisters pointed it out to them.

Anyway, to each his own as far as babies are concerned.

My only comment about this baby #20 would be that after the #19, Josie, was born so terribly premature and they still don't know all of the developmental delays that she may have - I just wouldn't chance another pregnancy at Michelle's age. Josie still needs constant medical care. Who is going to provid that when this new baby is born?

It's not a hill that I would die on, but at this stage in her advanced reproductive cycle, isn't that a little like tempting God?

It is so sad to lose a little one. I've lost 2 and I pray for this family during this time of grief. :(

Yes it is, Ann. In one article I read Michelle said she felt her heart would break as they told the children. Praying here too.
