One day we who are of the Lord will all receive a glorified body as did the Lord. I think that most would agree that Jesus was both God and man while here on earth. The question is, will He now be eternally a man in a glorified body and God or just God? Is He still today a man in a glorified body who is God?

While on earth, He shed His Godly authority to become like us. Today He sits as a man at the right hand.

Was this? And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

The result of this? And the Word was made flesh,(Man as in Son of man of the woman) and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Because in Jesus God? made himself of no reputation,(Self empties himself) and took upon him the form of a servant,(Jesus the Son of man) and was made in the likeness of men:

For this very purpose? But we see Jesus,(the Son of man) who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death,

However did this not happen? But God (the Father) raised him from the dead:
And declared the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

What was this power he had upon resurrection? Was it something which he did not have before his resurrection?

Was it at this time that it was stated of this resurrected man who had been the only begotten of the Father God and died? Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: Because he was? And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence.

    Therefore? But this man, (Jesus the only begotten man of the Father God without spot or blemish) after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

And we? For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

I believe Jesus the Christ the son of Mary begotten by God is a resurrected man sitting on the right hand of God the Father in heaven.

Who ascended into heaven? Did not the angels who witnessed his ascension say:

Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

"this same Jesus" is my answer. "This same Jesus" that they could see and touch is the "same Jesus" that went into heaven and therefore is now in heaven and will return from heaven just as he went into heaven - the God man.

My answer is that Jesus is and will be forever the perfect God-man. It is one of the remarkable parts of the Biblical revelation that one person of the immutable triune God, which existed perfectly from eternity past as Father, Son, & Holy Spirit...That eternal son of God will for eternity future be Fully God and fully man, in a glorified resurrected body much like the one's we will receive, and that for all time he will be "the first-born among many brethren."

Yes I agree that He will be eternally a man in a glorified body who is God. I don't agree that He was the Son in eternity past. I believe He was the word yet none the less God.

So for Eternity past, how would you describe the person of the Godhead, if not Father, Son, Holy Spirit?

    1. One God, One person?
    2. One God, 3 persons without distinction?
    3. One God, 3 persons: Father, Word, & Holy Spirit?
    4. Other...?

    1. What is the basis of this distinction?
I know John 1:1 says "In the Beginning was the WORD." So I can see that.
But in Heb. 1:2 it also says, "but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world." So in this verse we have "the son" being part of creation...long before he was incarnated.
Why couldn't we say that that person of the Godhead was called both the Word and the Son?

    2. What is the importance of this distinction? Does it have any effect on any other area of biblical understanding or practice?

    1) I don't see that the Hebrew account is explaining what He was prior to becoming the Son. If you notice it says through whom also He created. In Gen. it says and God said....
God spoke and created through the One we know as the Son who was the Word in eternity past is my understanding.

2)The answer is no not that I can see except it does give me a better understanding of the Trinity, at least for me. I just like keeping things as close to what the bible teaches as I can. So since John describes what is commonly called the second person of the Trinity in His prior eternal state as the Word I hold it means what it says. To be clear I am not saying the term "Word" is a title. I am saying I believe He was the Literal spoken Word which God used to create all things.

That's heretical. Jesus has always been God the Son.

This statement reveals that you believe he became the son. Where do you see that? Why not simply say He was the Son, through whom God created the world, and he was also the Word, through whom God created the world? The bible says both.

Paul I understand your feeling on that but scripture just does not bear it out. I think it is fine if you believe it but I don't based on what scripture says.
What we call the Trinity is so far removed from what we can even began to understand I would guess that just about everything we believe about it is in some way heretical. However if you can show me where scripture says He was always the Son I am more then willing change my view.

Because of what I explained to you. The bible says He was the Word not He was the Son. Also these verses.

Luke 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

Verse 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Or Jesus is and always will be the perfect man, the only begotten of God the Father and the firstborn from the dead of many brethren that in all he might have the preeminence.

Jesus the Son of God. Think about that for a moment. Jesus told the woman at the well that His Father is a Spirit, and they that worship Him, must do so in Spirit and truth. Jesus the Son, in heaven, on the right hand of His Father, is a Spirit. When He was here, He had a fleshly body, but now, in heaven, He has His glorified Spiritual body. Jesus also stated that He and His Father are one. So, while in heaven, He has the same body that His Father has.

1 Cor. 1:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

Greek word used for "flesh" in this verse:
    sarx σάρξ

    Thayer's definition:

    1) flesh (the soft substance of the living body, which covers the bones and is permeated with blood) of both man and beasts

    2) the body

    a) the body of a man

    b) used of natural or physical origin, generation or relationship

    1) born of natural generation

    c) the sensuous nature of man, "the animal nature"

    1) without any suggestion of depravity

    2) the animal nature with cravings which incite to sin

    3) the physical nature of man as subject to suffering

    3) a living creature (because possessed of a body of flesh) whether man or beast

    4) the flesh, denotes mere human nature, the earthly nature of man apart from divine influence, and therefore prone to sin and opposed to God

The flesh we have, will molder back to the dust, and can not stand in glory with the Father because of the stains sin has placed in it. When Jesus gathers His children, then we will be given new spiritual bodies, just as Jesus has now. This new spiritual body will rejoice in the prescence of the Father for eternity, because it was sown natural, and raised spiritual(1 Cor. 15:44).
