Although I don't like her abrasive style, the article makes good points.

The fact is that in the supercommittee negotiations the Republicans repeatedly offered to increase revenues by closing loopholes for corporations and the wealthy but the Dems consistently refused. The revenue numbers far exceeded the ratio of 10:1 cuts to revenues that is so often brought up as a question by the media in the Republican debates. I read that the Republicans had found $300 billion in new revenues but the Dems said it wasn't enough. That is a 4:1 ratio of cuts to revenues, far greater than the 10:1 ratio.

The thread topic is " Grover Norquist's "Taxpayer Protection Pledge"."

Why do Republican/Libertarian Christians hold the federal government to a higher standard then they hold themselves? For example, the Christian money guru who plays "cheering" noise when a caller claims to have paid off all his debt doesn't include his mortgage as being "debt."

If mortgages are not outstanding debt then neither are outstanding Treasury notes.

Ummm, no, Billy. When asking people to do what they promise, in a campaign, becomes a partiisan game, then you have a point. For now, you are awful picky about your libertarian battles.

Republicans are not liars and cheats?

Do politicians by nature lie and cheat or is it just your oppostition that lies and cheats?

Or is it that Republicans are not as bad at lying and cheating as Democrats?
