Parents concerned children may be gifted this for Christmas.

fter fielding complaints from parents about its "mature" content, the Wal-Mart-owned retailer Sam's Club has pulled a reported 10,000 copies of a "Bible" off its shelves that uses plastic LEGO blocks to depict Old Testament scenes.

Brendan Smith, creator of the LEGO scenes and author of "The Brick Bible," reported earlier this week the Sam's Club decision.

"I have just been informed that Sam's Club is pulling 'The Brick Bible' from the shelves of all of their retail locations nationwide due to the complaints of a handful of people that it is vulgar and violent," Smith reported on his Facebook page. "This despite the book containing only straightforward illustrations of Bible stories using direct quotes from Scripture."

Sam's Club explained: "After selling this specific version online and in several club locations, we received numerous concerns from members and parents about the mature content for a perceived children's book. Sam's Club made a business decision to discontinue sales of 'The Brick Bible.'"

    This may be a blessing. I went to the link and read it all. First there is the statement that the guy is a self proclaimed atheist. I tried to find some more information to verify it but was not able. However if true that should send up some red flags. Next I did check out some of the assorted parts. Here are what has this on it;

"God Tortures Billions, Satan Thrown to Earth, Armageddon"

"Settling Disputes, Sexual Discharges, Homosexuality, Prisoners of War.."

".God Kills 70,000, Adultery & Murder, David Flees Jerusalem..."

"The Two Prostitutes, The Queen of Sheba, 500,000 Israelites Killed"
    http://www.bricktestament.com/

There are other things I think should not be represented as they are, especially for children. So like I said this is probably a blessing. At this point I give Sam’s a two thumbs up for removing this product.:thumbs:

Hate to EVER see a bible (as such) or religious writing pulled from the shelves - always feel folks should be given the choice and have discernment on their own.

That said, many today have NO (or little) such wisdom and retailers should have the right to make choices on what product to put on the shelves. Free enterprise and all that.

The 'author' of the Brick Bible is an atheist. I looked at parts of Genesis and Revelation on the website for the Bible. In Genesis, in the Garden of Eden they show Adam and Eve copulating.

The titles for the chapters of Revelation:

    God Tortures, Kills Billions
    God Burns one-third of Earth
God Tortures Everyone except 144,000 Jews
    God Tortures a Whore
Billions to be Tortured Ceaselessly for Eternity (Illustration shows Kobe Bryant of the L.A. Lakers about to be condemned to Hell at Great White Throne Judgment.)

Yes, I hope this project fails and fails spectacularly.

Some of the depictions of the event turn God's word into something filthy and vile. I won't even post to some of the pages. It takes a sick mind to turn Legos into Bible p0rn.

    1. This is a mockery of the biblical text.

    2. No atheist conception of the biblical text should be permitted for consumption by believes. They have no authority or ability to properly frame the biblical text.

    3. There is no justifiable reason for allowing this tripe to be on the shelves of anything, anywhere.

I went to the site with the pictures. It brought to mind that a picture is worth a thousand words and too many of these pictures in my short visit were inappropriate for children.

I do think that the title of this thread is a slight disservice to Sam's Club. They did not yank the Bible; they yanked a very odd depiction of biblical stories.

This picture might be a little scary to very small children, but I doubt it would bother children used to violent video games at all.

    That entry is very mild.

I won't link to the gross ones, but one of them shows a Lego man c0pul@ting with a Lego animal. The story of Onan is also graphically portrayed.

I do think the title is unfair to Sam's. This was a family friendly decision.

Maybe a better title would be 'Sam's Club pulls p0rn0gr@phic Lego 'bible' from shelves.

    [Rant]

From a beginning glace the first thing I noticed was a depiction of God, the Creator, being presented with dramatically frowning eyebrows, then the descriptive choices of titles and the obvious and purposeful indelicacy in the methods pertaining to the subjects of the biblical stories, such as (“God Wants Part of Penis Cut Off”) and next the warnings presented on the website, which BTW markets to children, yet declares (“The Bible contains material some may consider morally objectionable and/or inappropriate for children.”), It didn’t take long for a red flag to rise and suspicions to grow about the spirit of the messages being presented to children and to ask why would these things be overlooked by a discerning Christian.

The sales ethics behind the “brick bible” could be compared to a famous personality getting a lot of money for endorsing a product that he doesn’t even really like; it’s laced with dishonesty from the beginning. This guy, an atheist who calls himself (“Reverend Smith”) who developed this marketing gimmick, after being exposed and his product pulled from the shelves, underhandedly takes his deceit even a few steps further. First, let me ask what possible purpose is there in this “atheist” calling himself "The Reverend" Brendan Powell Smith” other than to deceive for profit and to mock? This guy is using what amounts to typical mocking atheist arguments throughout and uses them to prey on children! While disguising these dogmatic atheist concepts (Those which claim the Bible is filled with immorality, images God a cruel and despot Creator, strongly focuses on anything sexual while ignoring the wisdom, purposes and love of God, etc.) he hopes to lure children to his “product” through the attraction of a popular children’s toy (Legos). All one has to do is ask themselves, “Are his motives to spread the Gospel or are they merely for profit, and concerning his principles should this wolf be allowed to feed baby sheep?” …the answer should be clear!

In his blindness and greed, while becoming increasingly exposed and shunned, this confessed atheist also has the gall to defend his actions by declaring that he was only directly quoting the Bible! (IOW’s he offers nothing more than the common, tired and blinded atheist’ argument which attempts to portray that the Bible shows God as being immoral and a despot!)

Further, as his money train is derailed and begins to run off the tracks, he resorts to the deceitful defense and tries to take advantage of a few endorsements which he claims to have received from clerical personnel who in ignorance were most probably just merely premature in praising his product while not being aware of his motives at best.

As his money train runs over the cliff and his prideful dreams to capitalize on distorting the Truth go crashing toward the bottom I pray that it hits hard enough that he sees the light and the error in his ways.

    Amen

    [/Rant]

    ...and God bless Sam's Club!

There were some decent depictions - the ones that displayed s3xual acts bothered me the most. I can't say I was thrilled with the portrayal of God. Goodness knows what else there was, but I quit looking and went on to more productive things.

I guess historical accuracy is not one of its strengths...

I noticed that as well. That's how I knew right away this guy has an agenda.
