To Be Buried or Burned...todays' question???

    I know this may be an already been there, already commented on that topic, but, please bear with me and provide me not only your choice, but why, and more importantly, what your understanding of the Bible is on these two forms of burial!!!

    I plan to not waste the space or money and just hurry nature along a bit since the Lord will have no problem putting the pieces back together again anyway. AFAIK there are no Biblical commands either way. There is "tradition" but we know where that leads...

    I agree with Mexdeaf. I couldn't bear the thought of paying a small fortune for a funeral. I would pay anything for my own parents or brother out of respect for them - but then again - even that would be only to satisfy my own selfish grief.

    I've always planned on being cremated. And I have no desire to have my ashes spread anywhere.

    My body is to be donated to a nearby medical school. They can do whatever they want with it ... hope it helps prepare some young folk would will be good doctors. Saves the family a ton of money. No funeral home expenses, no casket expenses, etc.

    I do not believe the Bible gives a preference of how to dispose of the body.

    If memory serves me correct, I believe cremation originated as a pagan practice. It is no longer that and I'm undecided one way or another about it. I'm planning on being translated :)

    I prefer burial. I prefer a place where future generations can have a contact with me. I love to see old graves and so I'd love to have one. :) I've burned myself a few times and I'd rather not be disposed of that way but rather like the old saints - in the ground.

    Cremation does not usually precluded burial of remains.

    I prefer burial. I can't imagine a non-monetary reason why someone would want cremation for himself or his loved ones.

    My father told us that he was going to give his body to science and that they would send back the cremated remains, then we could take him out with a post hole digger and finish it :) He didn't do it for which we were thankful, post hole diggers are so hard to use in dry hard dirt :)

    Some states allow burial on private property so that can save money as well if you have some property.

    DEFINITELY not around here! We couldn't even bury the horse that we recently put down on the farm!!

    I couldn't care less what is done with my body once I'm dead. I've told my son to do whatever he wants, whatever is cheapest, or whatever makes him feel better. I won't be here so I really don't care. Funerals are for the living anyway.

    I would prefer to not be embalmed, be put into a fairly simple wood casket that I have built myself, be buried (out in the corner of our property where I have built our home would be cool, but the city wouldn't allow that) and have worms and ants could eat me down to the bones, but I believe I will be finished with this physical body anyway so I’m not too concerned except for to meet any emotional needs of those who remain here and love me.
