At least , that's what the Huffpo writer ...hopes.

I think most people already know about his "baggage" and the ad will have little effect.

Ron Paul is in the lead in the latest Iowa poll. I'm not totally shocked by it, even though the right-wing media is constantly downplaying his candidacy.

In contrast the lefty media have ignored him up to now. If by some chance he wins the nomination they will suddenly remember their job of vetting candidates.

If anyone hears liberals in the media say Obama is praying for Gingrich to be the nominee, then rest assured, Obama does not want to face Gingrich. The liberals took down Cain, they savagely attacked Palin they sought to destroy Gingrich when he was Speaker of the House because of his conservative positions they hated. Romney is OK, like McCain was OK, but Romney is not as principled and committed to conservative causes as Gingrich is and is especially not as principled as Bachman or Palin or Santorum are, but republicans are probably destined to get the so-so guy again just like we got McCain last time. Obama can thank God his secret prayers to Allah will appear to be answered in his favor.

Newt has lots of baggage, he was involved in crony capitalism, he had many ethics violations, he supported left wing proposals, he is an adulterer.

For these reasons, I eliminated him first among all the other candidates. If he were the nominee, I would struggle between voting for him or a 3rd party.

It will, no doubt be discovered in the end that many of the accusations against Gingrich are being made under the inspiration of the devil by others who are even more weighted down by the baggage of sin if only people knew. Newt and Rick Santorum are both Catholics which is not a great sign in and of itself. Romney is a mormon which is even worse and the rest of the pack is out there somewhere as well. When it comes to religios convictions, there is none better among the most notable possible candidates than Sara Palin for clarity of testimony, but Perry and Bachman show good signs as well.

It is not likely, however, that we will get a good Christian in as final candidate
because even many Christians, for whatever dumb reason, are also highly critical of good Christian candidates. If we get a third party candidate to run against the republicans, like Ross Perot did, then Obama will probably win the election.

Every Christian must do as his conscience dictates, however, no matter what the consequences. I am going for Gingrich and hoping for Palin as VP, not because I favor Gingrich as a person, but because of my beliefs about politics and what I think will be the most likely scenario to not only defeat Obama, but to get the many dogs in Congress motivated to do some things right.

Gingrich has been in the fight before getting right things done, which is why he was so viciously attacked and charged with so many phony infractions.
Sara Palin was only a candidate and the democrats sent dozens of lawyers to Alaska trying to dig up dirt on her and get her charged with anything, pursuing her long after the election was over. Politics is extremely nasty and the democrats are vicious, like it or agree with it or not. Gingrich has fought with the dogs and prevailed and I applaud and admire him for that, even if he was wounded by the attacks and still has the scars.

I actively campaigned for Jesse Helms when he won the Senate seat from NC in 1984 (I even lost my job because I was working for men at the time who were adamantly opposed to J. Helms and were, in my opinion, also opposed to God and Christians in general, even though a few went to churches and were leaders in their churches. I knew personally the man who led Jesse to the Lord and people from our church served on his staff. He was maligned by the liberals ceaselessly, but he stood his ground. God bless men like that, and curse the devil and his minions.

    Marke,

Attacking the attacker is not really the issue. I eliminated Newt even before he announced his candidacy in late Spring. For me, I will vote for a Catholic, Mormon, or people of other religions just as I probably would have voted for Jefferson. The weight of evidence against his character is enough to cause me to run away from him, to distance myself from him, to consider a 3rd party candidate if he were the nominee.

There are few issues I truly agree with Newt on. Except for his proposal for immigration reform, I do not share much with the man.

I understand the ramifications of my decision to possibly support a 3rd party candidate. However, if the Republican party selects Newt there are tremendous concerns I will continue to have. Since 1968, they would have only selected one conservative to run for the Presidency, that being Reagan who did not always govern conservatively. W. ran as a conservative but governed as a liberal. Dole was a big government Republican as was H.W., Ford, and Nixon. Newt is a big government republican.

The only issue that would cause me to support Newt would be the abortion issue. Yet, this is not because I believe him to be very conservative on this issue, but because I think we may luck out with a Supreme Court Nominee under his administration over one for Obama.

Since I did lose my job in 1984 because I voiced my political opinions in a house full of democrats, I generally try to steer away from political discussions after a second round, but I feel liberty to offer one more. We don't get and will never get perfect politicians as choices. The best we can hope for is to get those who will be the best at supporting conservative Christian causes.

Pres. Bush has been maligned in every way imaginable by the liberal dogs and it hurts me to see Christians believing the garbage the media feeds the public. I was briefly associated with the Roloff Homes in 2000 after Bush was elected Pres. As governor of Texas, Bush played a major role in getting the state to allow the homes to open back up for the younger kids. I don't have time to go into the tragedies of Texas politics and what the state of Texas did to Lester Roloff, the people in the homes, and to the children. Bush was such a great help to those under the big hateful thumb of wicked Texas politicians. After Bush left the next administration sided with the devil again and the girls had to move to Florida and the boys had to go to Montana. What a wicked bunch politicians are.

Bush committed the US to war with Iraq with the advice and support of Congress and yet the cur dogs in that same Congress who supported the entrance into that war ended up accusing Bush of lying and acting unilaterally. Congress set up, with the special assistance and insistance of Barney Frank and other fags and dogs, the housing bubble and mortgage scam fiasco with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac which brought Wall Street to its knees, and then the scums blamed Bush who was on record trying to get the system corrected against the resistance from Frank and friends.

Those who are doing right will always be the ones who will be blamed by the ones causing the problems. It is sad that even the Lord's people are destroyed for lack of knowledge of things like this.

    Marke,

Bush was a horrible president because he expanded the role of government, limited civil liberties through the Patriot Act, gave us the largest entitlement program since the great society era, prolonged the economic recession through a meaningless and bubble producing stimulus, and engaged us in a useless but costly war. In his advancement of a socially accepting society, Bush compromised his confessed Christian beliefs by a series of theological statements that acknowledged Muslims would go to heaven, a theological universalism which attacks the heart of Christianity.

I do not know much about the often maligned so-called liberal media, who seems to be the ire of many as the cause of great problems in America, because I do not own a television. Bush ran as a conservative, which influenced many to consider him for his willingness to control spending, have a humble foreign policy, stop the expansion of government and to limit social engineering, but once he took office he reversed these elements to become the most nation building expander of government President in my lifetime.

In my quest to vote for a conservative President, I became utterly disappointed in Bush's easy and convenient role in giving into the liberal agenda. The Iraq War was only a small part, a kernal, of the problem which congress approved and was a wrong-headed move.

Newt's policies would make Bush look like a conservative.

Gingrich is also a lot smarter than Obama, will call him on his multiple lies, and will make him look like the economic illiterate he is in a one on one debate.

That's why he scares liberals to death.

If he gets the nomination, I'll have no trouble voting for him against the likes of an Obama.

Newt, who advocates a similar economic policy as Obama, which is the same economic philosophy he advocated during the debates and while he was Speaker of the House, believes Government expansion cures the economic woes of our current crisis. In a recent debate, Newt, advancing the same Keynesian economic theory that led to disaster for our economy, advocated for an expansion of credit and government spending, items that create bubbles that burst and cause greater harm. Standing against Obama advocating the same failed policies is an irrational debate strategy and a failed policy for America.

    Nice spin.

But history tells a different story. They couldn't be more different.

    Carpro,

Nice try, but mine is not spin. Several years ago I listened to Newt speak where he explained FDR's New Deal was a wise and needed program during the depression. His conversations have been reported elsewhere, I was present during a time he made these remarks. As a subscriber to his newsletter for the last several years, I have seen many keynesian policies advanced.

This is not spin, but fact. Could any conservative embrace the New Deal? No! His viewpoint embraces Keynesian Economic theory where the government solves the problems, the results to which disaster is expanded and lengthened.

If you want Obama II (or W III) then vote for Newt. He would love another New Deal to solve our economic problems.

    Yes it is.

History and actual accomplishments tell a different story.

I don't see how it tells a different story. He said during the debates that he can still expand spending by the Federal Government and balance the budget.

BTW, the vast expansion of the economy in the 90's had nothing to do with Newt, the accomplishment which cannot be narrowed down to any single economic decision besides NAFTA.

As well, he is an immoral man who was not faithful to his wife. I cannot and will not vote for him. In the 1990's, I said character was a very important reason to not vote for CLinton and a reason to not vote for Newt.

I hold decidedly different opinions but maybe the fact that I do have a TV and watch Fox News does have something to do with that. I would have to admit, though probably reluctantly, that people are influenced at times to believe lies because they simply do not have greater understanding of the truth.
