Down to the Final Four! Ready To Decide! Help Me Out!

I have narrowed it down to these four bible schools for distance learning.

    satsonline

I believe this is the one that I am going to choose because its affordable; they take the bible seriously; and has great distance learning support. The only thing I am worried about is will American Institutions and or churches recognize this degree in the future because it is out of country?

    globaluniversity

Another very serious candidate. I still might choose this one because two universities merged together offering over eighty years of combined distance learning experience. Also still have paper type lessons as well; which I would like.

    moody

I would love to choose this one but I have a feeling from reviews and dealing with the site it looks like they are a little overwhelmed and I am not sure they are on par with their distance learning system. I could be wrong but I would like to heavily consider this choice as well.

    lhbionline

This one scares me a little bit because sometimes the old saying goes if it is too good to be true; it’s not. Seems like a fantastic deal; the school is supposedly number one; and the theology is great. I just think from reading reviews like moody they are just tapped out. I could be wrong but I would like to heavily consider this option as well.

Anyhow any input would be great! Look forward to all of your replies. I am very eager to sign up and start my classes. Let the good times roll! Also post any other bible schools that are extremely close to these in price and quality which are accredited; if you have them. If it’s too much please do not bother. Have a wonderful day and God bless!

LHBI is a way to get the coursework the least expensively and get a solid Bible College level education with credibility. Probably the best place to start and then move along with Liberty Online with a Bachelor Degree or one of the other schools.

From my personal perspective, having a B.S., M.A., and M.Div. from Liberty, I ALWAYS have wished that I had known more about Moody when I started with Liberty because I would have very likely done their (then correspondence now online) B.A. in Pastoral / Biblical studies.

If you plan to go past the undergraduate level, Liberty Online offers degrees through the Th.M. with NO residency. So, to have some diversification in your education by way of an undergraduate somewhere else is a good choice... of course that is if you plan to go past Bible College level education.

If you don't, I think LHBI is the best place to start. The get the diversification I am doing it at the doctoral and possibly post doctoral level. That may not be that important to you, but when church search committees are getting 100+ resumes from potential pastors, you may want to at least do your part to have a "balanced" resume in the education portion.

I wish you the best and trust that God will guide your decision.

P.S. For what its worth my first semester of Bible College credits that I transferred to Liberty came from Global and I loved their program. It was solidly biblical and very satisfying to study. I also sometimes wish that I would have finished that B.A. with them for the same reasons stated above about Moody. At any rate, you have it down to some solid choices with good reputations and accreditation. Global now offers degrees through the M.Div. as well without stepping foot on campus. If they offered some kind of distance or module Doctorate I'd do it!

==Not sure what your goals are. Which school is best for you depends upon what you are trying to achieve with your education. SATS is an unknown factor as far as I am concerned. I don't know anyone who was hired as a full-time professor at an accredited institution based on their degree from SATS. Maybe there are those people and I'm just not aware of them. However that might be something you want to look into in trying to determine if "American Institutions and or churches recognize this degree".

Global University is regionally accredited. However I'm not sure what their overall reputation is in the academic world. I would have the same concerns with SATS.

Moody is a good school. However I know nothing about the quality of their online/distance program.

LHBI is a certificate program and not a degree program (though LU does accept some credits into the undergraduate program). Have you looked into Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary's online options (luonline.com)? LHBI is more for Sunday School teachers and lay leaders within the church. It is not designed to be an actual degree program. So, again, it really depends upon your goals.

==At this point in time I would say Liberty University is the way to go when looking for a solid, online Religion, Theology, or Divinity program. I looked into doing their ThM/Church History. However only one of their ThM programs can be done 100% online (I forgot which one but I think it was a ministry option). The others require the student to get independent studies or go on campus. I think their promotion of the ThM as online is a bit misleading. The Seminary does not offer enough online classes to support the program.

Bible Colleges! Final Two! Almost There!

Okay I have narrowed it down to the final Two!

    I have dropped these …

    satsonline

I am going to drop this one because I am just not positive about their acceptance throughout Churches nationwide. Also they are out of country and customer service I am sure is going to add an extra level of difficulty.

    moody

I would love to go to this school but to many things just keep getting in the way. I just checked their tuition and it has gone up. Tuition is now 195.00 per credit hour which I know is a great deal but still just a little bit out of my price range.

    The Final Two …

    lhbionline

I think I am going to choose this one. It’s a great school with great values. And they have created a program that is exactly for the person who is wanting to study the bible from Home and receive credit for it later. I know it might not be the very best; but it is certainly a fantastic option for price and value. What I am looking for while I go to a local community college.

    globaluniversity

This one is so close to second that it might actually take first before I make my final decision. I like their dedication to paper studies. Good reputation; nice layout; affordable price and accredited. The only thing that bothers me is that it’s not Liberty. I believe Liberty had more of a name out their then “global university”; and I think it would be more respected in the future.

    Summary

I do not think I can really go wrong with either one. I am leaning towards Liberty because of the name and trust. I could still go either way; but at this moment I believe just prayer and fasting is going to be the only thing left to do. I really appreciate everyone’s help and still look forward to your future comments!

It's the Practical Theology major in the ThM that is available 100% online. I just talked to Dr Gary Yates a few months ago about the very same thing; doing the church history ThM, but I don't have room in my life for any more residencies... :)

Keep in mind that on the Liberty Home Bible Course website it mentions that there is a $100 per course charge to transfer into the degree program--if that is part of your plans. That's still a pretty good deal though.

I did not read that fine print; I'll take another look at that; but would that still work out better than lets say SATS or Moody at around 150-195 per credit hour?

I guess you'd have to do the math. I find SATS intriguing. On a mission trip to South Africa several years ago I talked with a local BTh student and took a look at her theology text book. It was what SATS calls a "reader." Through an arrangement with the publishers SATS had select chapters from a couple of systematic theologies by Erickson and Grudem in a spiral notebook, I believe. Take a look at their fee page and see what you think. I believe each course is worth 12 credits in their system.

==He must have had a real deja vu moment because I talked with Dr. Gates a few months ago as well. I could not recall which option was 100% online. I think they need to clarify their webpage.
