Interesting analysis of blue collar wages

    Kind of weakens the "jobs shipped overseas for lower wages" claim doesn't it?

    Could there be other reasons then for a U.S. company outsourcing to any of these countries?

    That chart doesn't really mean much. Let's compare that to the cost of living in those countries. For instance:

    Gas in the US (as of this morning's full up) $3.29/gallon
    Gas in Norway $9.28/gallon

    One bedroom apartment rent in the US (San Diego, a very expensive city) $1100/month
    One bedroom apartment in Oslo, $2100/month.

    Tax rate in the US (cumulative) 28%
    Tax rate in Norway (cumulative) 40%

    Price of a new VW in the US $22,000
    Price of a new VW in Norway $41,000
    Price of a new VW in Mexico $15,148

    The countries we outsource to did not make the list. The average hourly wage in Mexico is $2.34/hour. In India it is just under $2.

    Add to that no unions, no benefit package, no retirement. The American worker, through union organization, etc., has effectively priced himself out of the world market. :(

    Don't forget to add the business tax that we take from American businesses.

    It is considerably higher than most of our competition in the world, if not the highest (haven't fact checked if we are THE highest).
