I'm debating my cousin on some points in the gay marriage debate. In support he cited a study that having 2 parents regardless of gender is the main issue, not just a mother and father. Anyone know any links on the contrfary disproving this "study"? Hes big into proof. Any other links I can forward on showing the dangers to society oof gay marriage?

Has your cousin accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour?

If not, then, I suspect links countering his view point will be much like scientists with opposing theories on xyz subject. Climate change (global warming), for example.

If he has been saved, the scriptures, themselves may be what you need, rather than studies by child rearing "experts".

He is not, but there are many atheists, agnostics, and even homosexuals who think its wrong. Surely there must have been some studies conducted showing the danger of gay marriage.

Sadly, you are not likely to find any scientific studies on that issue that are contrary. The Scientific community has sold out on this issue- in 1973 the major mental health organization- the APA- declared that homosexuality is no longer a mental illness.

I a studying for a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling now and I have learned to tread carefully on this subject.

So, which one does he think is not needed, the husband or wife? Which one does he think is expendable? Why does he select 2 people? Why not 4 or eight?

When we begin to attack marriage, we must rationally support any contention. Is Marx correct in seeing the family as useless? Why or why not? Should we let an Institution raise our children? Why or why not?

The problem with his view is that he wants to hold to some Biblical views without any logical reason.

    Ruiz is correct.

If two parents are better than one, regardless of same-sex or not, then why isn't 3 better than two? Or 5 better than 4? Where do you stop?

If the "main" thing is merely numerical - if the what makes the family stronger is merely clinical and quantitative, then why not have Uncle Jimmy Jo and second cousin (once removed) Suzy Q move in, too?

There are too many anecdotes that just about everyone here could give of single parents - be they divorced, never married, or widow/widower - who successfully raised children to be competent and compassionate adults. Is/was it hard for these people? YES! Whew! But through the grace of God - they did it .... alone.
