Does anyone think there might be a serious third party run if Romney gets the nomination? If so, who do you think that might be, such as Paul or Trump? Which party would it hurt the most? Salty, maybe you could answer this one. What is the deadline for an Independent to get on most state ballots for the general election? One would not have to wait until after the convention. Planning could start as soon as it is certain who the nominees will be.

A third party has absolutely no chance for the 2012 election. Perhaps, if support started now they would have a chance in fifteen or twenty years.

A third party would kill the Republicans as the vote would be split between the third party and the Republicans.

Obama would win in a landslide...

An the U.S. as we know it would be toast.

    Ditto.

    You think so?

The best scenario could actually be Obama in the White House with the Republicans in charge of the purse strings and both houses of congress. Let the Dems share the pain and the blame with the Repubs when the socialist programs become implemented and interest payment on our debt begin to soar out of site.

Sometimes I wonder why any Republican of sound mind would even want the job this term. He could possibly become one of the greatest scapegoats in history, like Hoover, again.

2016 has crossed my mind for Republicans. Obviously four years of Obama was not enough for Republicans to turn back to a conservative nominee, maybe eight would make them believers.

    Every State is different.

Here is a web link (wikipeia) that gives additional info on 3rd parties

All I know is that I'm tired of voting for people like George W Bush that claims to represent my views and then changes sides once elected. I don't care anymore who it hurts. The fact is, the two party system hurts the American people because 1) it is really a one party system; 2) it limits our choices.

This time I'm voting for someone I really support, even if I have to write the name in on the ballot.

Third party vote is a wasted vote.

A third part vote is a vote for Obama.

As long as most people get their news from leftist media Republicans will get the blame.

Obama is doing the same thing FDR did which prolonged the "Great Depression" until we got involved in WWII!

Agreed. I was hoping that some disgrunted far left candidate like Nader would run in 2012, thus siphoning off votes from Obama. Nader's vote taking from Gore in Florida in 2000 pretty much gave Bush the presidency.

Perhaps I pulled a Rip van Winkle but could you enlighten everyone regarding the above claim?

Be careful of making a write in vote for President - as you are not actually voting for the individual - you are actually voting for the electors - and in the case of GA - 16 separate individuals- (on one ballot)

Keep in mind, there are other ballot parties to vote for
Click here for info on the 2008 Ga Presidential election

Brother, let's face it, dubya was well on his way to a record expansion of Federal government well before 911. He also ran against nation-building, and then did the most nation-building since the Marshall Plan.

Maybe that is the reason Obama was elected, not people voting their conscience. IMO, a vote for Romney is a vote without any conscience.
