Screen shot/capture advice??

You can just hit print screen button on the keyboard and paste into a graphic/word processor program if you lose it again.

 

I'm with exscentric; I usually hit "Print Screen," then open paintbrush or whatever image-editing program you prefer to use, then do Edit -> Paste; do whatever editing you want to do, then save as a .jpg.

Which, of course, exemplifies why you prefer the one-click functionality.

You might also want to consider looking for plug-ins for whatever browser you're using.

These three (including the aforementioned ScreenHunter) appear to have single-click functionality. Apparently they can all be set up to use a hot key, and preset to save to a particular folder (much like you've described). The effort comes in identifying the pre-sets (which folder, which format, etc.); from then on, it's just a matter of invoking your hot key.

If you hit Alt and Print Screen at the same time then it will only copy the active window on the screen. If you want everything then just hit Print Screen.

I have always done this: Hold down Ctrl and Alt and Print Screen....then
go into your doument program (in my case, it's Word) and then hit
Ctrl V

it should paste your screen shot into the document.

I use Greenshot. I really like the fact you can define a folder and when ou hit the printscreen key all the screens go there, and before they're saved, ou can resize/cut these.

 

Sounds just like Jing. What is the saved file extension?

 

I bought a small scanner and it came with Abby software. It allows you to select the area of the desktop you want to file or text recognition. Have no idea how much it is but works fairly well.
