Has anyone had an experience with an osteopath?

I have been bedevilled with plantar fascitis in one foot and now the other, making every blessed step a penance.

I tottered to the osteopath after having had some sessions with podiatrists, and so it seemed a good idea to try one out. So far so good.
It was my left foot that is bothersome so he treated me on the right calf which was odd, but it has had some immediate benefit.

I appreciate the approach of osteopathic medicine much more than the typical medical practitioners. I understand it is growing field that is replacing a lot of the pharmaceutical overkill that has been going on far too long and so welcome it. Plantar fasciitis can be difficult to treat and typically takes time to correct mechanical imbalances by building strength, proprioception and proper stretching; a job best suited for a Physical Therapist if you were to ask me. ;)

Thank you Benjamin from Surprise ( I love the fact you live in such a place).

What is a physical therapist? A physiotherapist?

Went to Jerusalem on Sunday....which is on the Whanganui river as everyone doubtless knows!!

Yes, it is the same field.

...and yes, the name of my town seems to suite it, and me.

Our primary physician is an osteopath and we adore him. We love that his major tenet is "medication last". He will give you antiobiotics when called for but if you go in, as my husband did the other day with a sprained ankle, he doesn't hand out pain pills but instead treats more holistically....massage, manipulation, therapy, etc.

I went in with a kidney infection and walked out with antibiotics. He helped manage my after surgery pain, no pain pills. I don't know that we'd ever go back to an MD for primary care again.
