My son wrestled in high school and I've watched many wrestling meets. My answer to both would be an emphatic NO.

Never forget the first meet I went to, my oldest was wrestling and he got a bloody nose. I jumped up from the bleachers and he looked at me and his eyes said, "If you budge I'll kill you" LOL I watched him punish himself to get from his football weight (210) to his wrestling weight (180) in one week....that's how long he had from his last football game to his first wrestling meet. Wrestling, IMO, is not a sport that should be unisex.

Well, there's wrestling and then there's "wrestling"! Neither types should be engaged in by teenage boys and girls together.

In high school wrestling, look at all the grasping, grabing, tossing, etc. Too many wrong "places" a teenage boy could "grab" for this sport to be for both male and female to participate, if'n you ask me.

Nah. My scrappy teenage tomboy might hurt some poor little feller.

    Thumb wrestling, maybe.

Elly May always beat Jethro. But no, I wouldn't want a daughter wrestling boys, as this ain't fiction, nor would I want a son wrestling girls.

I wrestled in high school. If a girl wants to subject herself to that sort of abuse, it is her call, but I would highly recommend that she abstain.

Once she is in the ring, all bets are off and there is no crying foul if she gets poked and prodded in ways that she might not desire. It is a rough game to be sure.

I know that when I was in high school, I would have welcomed a female wrestler. It would have been fun for me and the other guys... Doesn't speak very well for the girl who wishes to subject herself to that sort of thing.

I think it's a recipe for disaster, really.
