If you think you are being nice and quiet by taking 62 seconds to open your piece of hard candy in church, you aren't. Just open it quickly and get it over with.

Has anyone ever heard people in church with their hand in their pocket rattling their change, mixed with candy in their pocket, too? Now, that's annoying.

    HA!!

That makes me laugh out loud! Once upon a time, I was the 5-year-old kid who sat with her grandmother in church while mama sang in the choir and daddy was an usher.

My grandmother kept Reeds Cinnamon Candies in her purse and I knew it. I would whisper to her every Sunday, "Grannie, can I have a hot mint?" She would give me one and I, being terrified of causing a commotion, took an eternity in opening up the translucent and crackling paper.

Looking back, I can only imagine how much of a disturbance I was causing prolonging the noise.

But once I popped that "hot mint" in my mouth, I was one happy little kid.

As is "quietly" trying to close a zippered Bible cover in anticipation of the end of services.

Were you happy because of the apparent disturbance you made, or because of the candy? Humm.....

You were a "rebel rouser" back then, you know?

I'm rolling here....most folks have zippered Bible covers anymore and when our congregation thinks the preacher is done you'll hear ...zip, zip, zip....he has said..."wait a minute, don't zip those closed yet, I'm not done."

If you "zipped up" too early, you would be causing double the disturbance when you "unzipped" your bible again. And then, you'd have to "zip it" again!! So, you too, are a "rebel rouser".

And then you'd hear a bunch of "zip, zip, zip" again. A bunch of "rebel rousers" on here today, if'n you ask me.

I was happy because of that fireball of a piece of candy floating in my mouth. :flower:

Anyone else bothered by the simultaneous clinkety-clink of all the Lord's Supper cups going into the holding racks??!?

    Just kidding! :tongue3:

Ha! Maybe I should print this in our bulletin for next week!

My favorite is the guy who clips his fingernails in church.
Preacher: "And God said. . ."
    CLIP CLIP
Preacher: "Let there be light. . ."
    CLIP, CLIP
Preacher: "And there was. . ."
CLIP, CLIP, ..............PING! (As a piece of fingernail hits the ear of the person sitting in front of him. . .)

For our church plays, we always tell people to pre-unwrap their mints and candies. :D

The funniest was my daughter forgot her Bible one Sunday so she decided to use my iPad instead of the Bibles we hand out and she accidentally hit the "read to me" button on the app. So now the iPad is reading the passage and she can't figure out how to close it down so she goes running out of the room giggling. LOL We're a tiny church and we all got a kick out of that one!

I guess it has been a while since I have been in a totally quiet service where one could even hear a wrapper open.

Now, on the other hand, I do volunteer as an usher at a local performing arts center, and I HATE IT when people bring their candy in and unwrap it and the house is quiet.

    REALLY?
