(Hint: Read Luke 4:19-30 KJV, where Jesus purposefully trolled and incited His own hometown fellow Jews within their Saturday Morning Synagogue Service, such that they first praised Him, then tried to literally kill Him.)

(Another Hint: Read Matthew Ch. 23 KJV where Jesus trolled The Pharisees as a group by calling them "liars," "whitewashed tombs," "blind guides," and "hypocrites." Nobody asked Him to do this.)

(Another Hint: Read Matthew 12:40-41 KJV where Jesus says the Gentile "Men of Nineveh" and the Pagan "Queen of The South" will all rise up in judgement against His contemporary Jews.)

(One more Hint: Read Mark 7:24-30 KJV where Jesus for some reason is trying to hide in a house near Tyre, and a demon possessed Greek woman came to beg healing from Him, after He easily had healed multitudes. He harrassed her by calling her a "dog" before He changed His mind.)

Did Jesus ever "troll?" Answer this question without getting huffy and upset.

Praise God for the Historic facts in His Word as He trains Professional Church Talkers how to focus on real Righteousness, rather than human tradition. Amen.

    JoReba,
I firmly believe God is dealing with you in some way and that's why you're here at BB trolling. Your posts are too absurd to be real, which means you're here to mock and annoy in an effort to silence your conscience. I'm going to pray for you, that God will convict you and work mighty things in your life.

I'm sure there are other folks here who will stop feeding this troll and start praying for him/her.

I have to admit that the OP asks a question that I never thought I'd have to answer.

I'm sure that many of his hearers thought Jesus was a troublemaker. To them, he would be a troll. He said stuff they didn't like, he provoked them, he scolded them and called them names. And they couldn't trip him up or win a debate with him.

We believers don't think so, of course

But I believe Jesus wouldn't agree to abide by rules and then break those rules he said he would follow.

(I promise I won't get huffy or upset  ).

No He didn't. To troll means "to fool Internet user into responding". And no, my arguement is not that there was no such thing as the Internet when Jesus walked this earth. Even if we replace "Internet user" by "someone" in the definition, when did Jesus fool anyone? Certainly not in any of the examples you gave in the OP. It was not in His nature to fool people. Rather, He said: "I am the way, the truth and the life." (John 14.6)

How is what Christ did in the examples provided different from trolling?

Well, I personally have no trouble dignifying this question with a response, why not:

Trolling I always thought implied a certain level of insincerity - gleefully goading others into angry response by making provocative, incendiary (though insincere) comments. Although I have in the past not been completely clear on the definition.

Christ was certainly being sincere. But as I posed in another thread, how could Christ say what he said, and then the Apostle Paul casitigate himself for speaking ill of the high priest. How is it that Christ wasn't sinning in this regard.

But actually, look at how all the Old Testament prophets castigated the leaders of their own day. It was in this same vein I think that Christ issued his scathing pronouncements against the Jewish leaders (and prophetic as well - fortelling their doom).

The case with the Syro-Phonoceian woman was different - Christ many times made it clear that his ministry was specifically to his fellow Jews. His reply to this Gentile woman was dismissive but it was also testing her and her humility - different situation altogether than from Christ rebuke of the Pharisee's etc.

But his rebuke to the authorities was necessary so that they would retaliate against him. It was these Jewish leaders specifically who crucified Christ, not the Romans, that's made clear repeatedly. And of course the crucifixion was necessary. So Christ confronting them so starkly, drawing a line in the sand, was all prepatory to his ultimate ministry.

He was in essence taking up the sword figuratively in his words to these people. He tells the disciples that after he's gone to sell their cloak and by a sword as he won't be around to protect them. But then in one gospel he tells Peter a short time afterward, "He who takes up the sword will perish by the sword." So Christ took up the sword figuratively (and not so figuratively when cleansing the temple) and in return perished "by the sword", but that was his plan all along.

    abcgrad94,

Whether or not your belief in what you just posted about me is firm, or is just intuitive, matters not to anyone but yourself.

God deals with me daily in many ways because I ask Him to. Lol. My post are real, and are no less real because you love to speak in response Churchy sounding aphorisms rather than what Scripture says.

My conscience is just fine, regardless of how you intuitively feel about it. Your condescending little response speaks for itself. Try not to let it worry you, but you and others in here are indeed welcome to pray for me all you want. Lol.

Let's talk more about your intuition, In fact, let's discuss how important intuition is for "Faith Believing." Okay?

Yes, I agree you ["We?"] Believers do mot think Jesus was a Troll, and it indeed is because of what you believe.

It is "nicer" to think Jesus was nothing but accommodating and genteel. His brash words can just be ignored, can't they? They should be ignored because those people to whom He fiercely spoke are all gone, and the Christians here today are a much better kind of people, aren't they?

BTW, have you been appointed to speak for the "We?"

Jesus did indeed "fool," or misspeak to, people. He often spoke in parables intended to be misunderstood by the majority of the hearers.

It is best to read The Text of Scripture for what it actually says and was intended to mean, rather than for what one needs to read in The Text in order to feel good about Jesus.

    Lol.

I see that because you have provided a chatty narrative about Jesus' offensive and harsh behavior that He indeed did not "troll."

    [offensive remarks about our Lord]

Jesus spoke harshly to his enemies - maybe that's why its so palpable to you.

I guess it will be trolling too when he destroys the earth.

Right, so what does the text of Scripture give as the reason Jesus spoke in parables? Was it to fool the majority of His hearers? Jesus gave the answer in Matthew 13.10-13:
10 And the disciples came and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?" 11 He answered and said to them, "Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. 12 For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand."
Nothing there about deceiving/fooling anyone! Possibly I am making too much of the title you gave this thread, but as I said, "trolling" involves a deliberate attempt to deceive. How could there be with the Saviour? Jesus is God, and God cannot lie!

Oops, didn't mean to speak for you. I'm just uncomfortable calling Jesus a troll.

I didn't say Jesus was all cum-bah-ya. He did indeed agitate folks.

Trolls start arguments for argument's sake. Jesus had a larger mission.
