Anyone else notice an increase in the number of trolls and weird threads in the last month or so?

    Cabin fever, maybe?

The last troll by this troll was that "Jesus never chatted".
Clearly, the thinking of this troll is argumentative a confrontational.
I interpret this as a direct assault upon the nature of our Heavenly Father.

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you
I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me
    , he doeth the works.
    - John 14:10

Jesus was obedient to the Heavenly Father, as we should be obedient to the Holy Spirit.

Indeed... I have commented along the same lines in other threads.

Some weird goings-on of late. I suspect that some group has targeted this board. Too many to be mere coincidence.

When there are responses to their inane posts it feeds them and encourages them to continue their trolling.

your right there Mandy...but someone always does feed them. If we were to all just go silent & not respond, would they just go away?

I make it my own "Best Practice" to put anyone who trolls or is extremely argumentative on the IGNORE feature. That way they do not annoy me & cause me to respond in kind (which I have done in the past, to my great shame). It's a wonderful feature that I highly recommend.

I think it comes and goes in cycles. At my other forum, the BF, we've had a rash recently of trolls. The forum there is also heavily moderated, but with a broader allowance of topics to be discussed publicly and a place for non-believers to come and ask questions and learn. We have more trolls there, but they are cut off swiftly.

It hard sometimes to distinguish the troll from the immature/irrational believer, but I always take the cynic's route and believe the worst.

mandym is right. We should not feed the trolls. I have been guilty of if myself. Even in posting that we believe that they are a troll only bumps their thread to the top again. It's best just to let it die. I'll be first in taking my own advice.

You know I'm copping both bro, two birds and only one stone.

Oh, I've tried to put one on ignoration also a few times, keeps saying I can't do it. Allegedly maude has me on ignore, yet responds to my test PM's immediately after I hit send if not sooner. Seems I'm rather on a hotline than on ignore!

I have been chewing on these verses this past week. They will birth a sermon soon.

Pro 26:20 For lack of wood the fire goes out, And where there is no whisperer, contention quiets down.
Pro 26:21 Like charcoal to hot embers and wood to fire, So is a contentious man to kindle strife.

There are actually forums where they have games and get points for trolling and I wonder if BB was targeted.

    What Is an Internet 'Troll'?

The Sad Truths of Internet Trolls:

Trolls enjoy using shock-value statements to get angry responses from others.
Trolls gain energy by you insulting them.
Trolls gain energy when you get angry.
Trolls are immune to criticism and logical arguments. True trolls cannot be reasoned with, regardless of how sound your logical argument is.
Trolls do not feel remorse like you and me. They have sociopathic tendencies, and accordingly, they delight in other people having hurt feelings.
Trolls consider themselves separate from the social order.
Trolls do not abide by etiquette or the rules of common courtesy.
Trolls consider themselves above social responsibility.
The only way to deal with a troll is to ignore him, or take away his ability to post online.

Why Do People Enjoy Being Internet Trolls?

Ans: it is a kind of power rush or ego trip to be a troll. Being online is a place that is largely free of perceived consequences... an insecure person can get a sense of power online, without ever having to face someone directly. With the Internet being a world of imagination and fantasy for some, cowardly users can forge an alter ego for themselves, and act out their feelings of anger and inadequacy. It's sad and unfortunate that our advanced communications also brings out the darker side of many people.

From the info just posted I think the BB, or rather the human race, has some troll features built in since the fall.

Personally, I go along with them for a while, probably longer than most to try to break through the mischievous attitude.

But, sooner or later I will give up.

If you go to the Puritan Forum, the Marine Corps Colonel Moderator does not tolerate these antics......bang zoom trolls go out as quickly as they come in.
