This is eight double rounds [.45 ACP] with the Arsenal Firearms 2011 Second Century Double Barrel Pistol…in other words, it is 4000 grains of payload sent downrange in about 5 seconds. To achieve the same result with a single barrel 9mm pistol we would need to shoot about 30 rounds, with two changes of magazines, in about 30 seconds.

    This is performance…

    I like it!

It's a cool toy....but I don't see it as a practical tool. I don't see it holding up to the practice it would take to get proficient with it. I also don't see the average shooter holding up to shooting it. I am a huge fan of the .45 ACP. I carry the Springfield XD loaded with hollow points when I work security gigs. I also love the 1911, having grown up shooting it, but wouldn't shoot it for extended time like I can the XD. The .45 ACP has excellent stopping power and that translates to high energy coming back into the shooters hand, wrist, and arm in anything but a well-made and well-balanced pistol.

Still...if I had money to burn, I would buy one of those double barreled toys.

That looks like a lot of fun...but can you imagine the wrist pain afterwards?!?

For those that are looking for a more affordable, similar type weapon, I invite you to check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNKT1B4zrnw The single-barrel version can be found for about $75; the double-barrel is typically $140-$150.

No, that is NOT the ultimate SHTF pistol. That would be reserved for the .410/.45 "Judge" loaded with .410 Personal defense rounds each containing 3 copper discs, and 12 BB shot...

Or its competitor, the S&W Governor.

The thing that the gun in the opening post has over the Judge or the Governor is the amount of ammunition. The Judge, if I recall correctly, holds 5; the Governor holds 6; compared to the 18 rounds (9 shots) in the 2011 2nd Century Double Barrel.

Yeah, but thats just wasteful. Why use two bullets on someone, when one will do? When the "SHTF," you don't want to be using twice as much ammunition as you have to be. Ammunition will be a scarce commodity.

If I understand it correctly that pistol in the OP does not have to fire both barrels at once. You have trigger options.

Exactly, it has two separate triggers.
