Prominent African-American Southern Baptist Pastor Dwight McKissic is calling for the ouster of SBC mouthpiece Richard Land:

So McKissic wants to divide the convention over race. There is enough going on without this unnecessary race-baiting.

I see nothing Land has said which I would disagree with......nothing....why not post links to these horrific things he said?

did you notice on the piece you posted that they called Trayvon a "VICTIM?" btw???

Jerome....I love how you post links to things....it is convenient, and adds to the conversation...but I think you are basically saying that this fellow race-baiter...Mckissic....must be assumed to be correct....I think that like Sharpton, like Jackson.....he simply does not want to work for a living, and sees professional race-baiting as a way to make an easy quick buck....the man is posting a new resume' for a new job.

I agree completely with Land's sentiments: If (racially speaking) we cry wolf every time there is any tragedy involving a young black man and a young hispanic one....then Land's concerns as quoted here:

    Will come to fruition:

Zimmerman has not yet been given his due process and tried in court....can he be duly convicted by a jury of peers before he is lynched? <---- and yes I mean that very literally, wait till the poor man is tried in court....my prediction....prosecutor drops the case.....before you lynch Zimmerman.

Where was the pastor when the black panthers put a bounty out on Zimmermans head?

or the president , who IS the MOST prominent Black American, who could have calmed down the racial tensions ?

Are the black panthers a branch of the SBC? I don't think they are. I believe Pastor Dwight McKissic is criticizing the words and actions of a representative of the SBC which McKissic is also affiliated with. So unless you are telling me that McKissic is a member of the black panthers then I don't see why you think taking Land to task for dumb statements warrants a requirement in McKissic’s part to rebuke blank panthers, the POTUS or other non SBC persons.

Based on what little I know I am not sure Zimmerman can or should be convicted of 2nd degree murder, but I do believe that based on the available information that the death of Trayvon was unnecessary and completely preventable. Zimmerman made a big mistake by getting out of his vehicle and following Treyvon on foot when he was advised not to. However, that doesn't mean Zimmerman broke a law by doing so...just extremely unwise. Had Zimmerman reported the incident and followed the dispatcher’s instructions Treyvon would be alive and Zimmerman would be going about his business as usually.

Any way you paint this, based on the available information, this is an extremely sad and unfortunate incident for Treyvon, his family and Zimmerman and his family. I am increasingly sickened that anyone is using this tragedy to make political statements or for political gain. And just because Al Sharpton says dumb stuff does not mean SBC reps or even secular people on the other side of the political spectrum should start saying dumb stuff too. This shouldn’t be a political or cultural football. Let justice run its course.

He didn't make any dumb statements and there is no need to take him to task but since McKissic is race-baiting then the panthers are a legitimate part of the conversation.

    Wow.

Do you think that of Rev. Eric Redmond as well, who reposted McKissic's essay, commending his stand:

    Eric Redmond blog

Redmond. pastor of Reformation Alive! Baptist Church, is a former vice president of the Southern Baptist Convention, and high up in the New Calvinist movement.
He is on the Council of The Gospel Coalition, and has been praised in the Banner of Truth as: "One of the leading black reformed ministers in America".

Land's rants against Obama are clearly not going to be welcome in the regime of the anointed next President of the Southern Baptist Convention, who said in an interview on PBS:

PBS Religion & Ethics Newsweekly—Rev. Fred Luter on Race in America
"We still have a long, long, long way to go," says Rev. Fred Luter Jr., who is expected to become the first African-American president of the Southern Baptist Convention.

I am not a great fan of Richard lamb, but If Mr. McKissic thinks what Richard Lamb said was racist then what I said in a blog I suppose there is no words for.
Richard Land spoke the truth originally although he has back peddled because of pressure. For that I do fault him. The truth is that if the black community would start training their children to live a productive moral godly lives instead of what a large percentage become, and stop living in the past using the race card this nation could heal a lot faster. Blacks make up about 13.6 percent of the population but about 40.2 percent of those in prison are black. The problem is with the black community not racism and it is way past time for the black pastors to start dealing with it in their congregation about this as well as their communities instead of pointing fingers when a white man speaks the truth.

When people are not spending the time to do what they should be doing they find time to fight over the things that are worthless and are successful at that.

neither should Chrisitians be supporting the policies of the president "Just because" he is a Black man, and see itn that regardless of what he says or supports, that he HAS to be supported!

It was indeed the right time to have a Black president, the problem is that there were and are far better qualified Black Americans and Christians, that should have gotten the position....
