There are plenty of Baptists and other Protestants that believe the story is a biblical myth as well. Why pick out one Catholic cardinal? You seem to be very hung-up on Catholicism.

I went to Catholic school from '76-83 and was always told the same thing. It's nothing new. Oh and the story of Noah's Ark and the parting of the Red Sea were also myths.

The reason: Rome is the "root" from which all false teachings flow!

    1) Because this is the one that caught my attention, not the others.

    2) This forum is specifically for other denoms.

You seem to be very confused.

I am no more "hung up" them them that I am with the mormons, Jehovahs wittness, or any other false cult.

    Annsni....

I went through most of my elementary school years in a Catholic school..the 60's decade.. and we were taught that Adam and Eve were real people. Nohas Arc was real. Sodom and Ghomorah were real, etc. The parting of the sea as well.

I guess different parishes have *some* degree of freedom regarding teaching.

So that is where Islam gets their false teachings from? Or Buddhism? Or paganism? I don't agree with you there.

Yeah, that 'confused' accusation is always laid upon anyone on this board who has any leaning at all toward the Catholic faith. You have stated at every turn that you believe Catholicism is a cult and that you are a former Catholic. I also notice none of the others ever seem to 'catch your eye.' Anyway, several Baptist churches, the PCUSA church, the UCC church, the ELCA church and quite a few other denominations in my area hold to the 'creation story myth' theory. Well, it would be more accurate to say they teach it is ok to believe it is factual or a 'biblical myth'.

Islam is very much connected to Roman Catholicism....i.e. the worship of Mary. Roman Catholicism has its roots in ancient Babylonian paganism...it is "Christianized paganism".

Realize that I was in school at least 15 years after you and liberalism was alive and well at that point, at least in the northeast!

Well, yes I am shocked and utterly appalled. The worst of it is the guy is an Aussie (like me).

I should send him a Baltimore Catechism primer for kiddies ......

Should be obvious that the lists are incomplete.

"Myth" means "Story of beginnings" and implies neither true or false - at least to educated people.

    Bill...

But God has spoken clearly regarding this issue.

Adam and Eve were real living people

And God expects us to proclaim that as the truth that it is. - at least for educated christian people
