Yep - and it's amazing how quickly a telemarketer hangs up the phone when I respond to them with:

"I'm on the national do not call registry. Can you tell me how you got my number?" I never get farther than that....

Yeah, but the politicians exempted themselves, of course. I have received over 10 "Political Survey" calls in the past week.

Our land line - three rings and it goes to a message which says, "Start talking. If we are home we will pick it up. If not, leave a message." It works well.

A lot of telemarketers get you from 3rd party info, that a lot of people don't realize they've agreed to.

I've signed up for a few things over the years and then I get a call. When I ask they will tell me, then I usually say "okay, thanks...I know I essentially approved your calling me, now remove me" then I hang up.

Yes we are! If I tell somebody notto cal and they keep on calling I have told them I can have them charged. I read about aprogram where if you tell somebody ot to call and they do they can be fined or charged $500. That tends to work

and I am liable NOT to leave a message - then I will hit * (whatever) then make my next phone call - if you have call ID, and try to call me back - I will be on my next call, and with call waiting de-activated, all you will get is a busy signal.

Again, I will state that too many Americans are wimps - a telemarketer calls you - tell them you are not interested.

See, even on the phone with telemarketers, I try to be polite and kind to them. However, they MUST ask me whatever the "question" is 3 times before they will give up. I don't want to be rude but it's wasting my time to ask the 2nd time. I don't hang up but I'm firm. "I said no. Please have a good night." then I'll hang up.

I give them the gospel. They will either go away or get saved.

An ATT worker in Columbus, Ohio, told me over the telephone that you have to re-enter your number every three years or so. I get so many wrong numbers on my land line that I am thinking of getting rid of it. I have a number similar to some trucking company dispatcher and also someone who had my number a few years ago owed a lot of money and got a lot of calls to their former number. I re-entered my numbers a couple of days ago on the national registry and also with the state Attorney General.
