I received an email and was asked to recommend some good books on Christian living for new converts. There are thousands of them out there, but I suggested these. Got any others to mention? I do not wish to overwhelm the new convert so I starred the ones I thought were the best.

    Living the Christian Life

    * The practice of Godliness by Jerry Bridges
Disciplines of a Godly man by Kent Hughes
    Desiring God by John Piper
Balancing the Christian life by Charles Ryrie

    Books on the Gospel

The gospel according to Jesus by John MacArthur
    * The Discipline of Grace by Jerry Bridges

    The doctrine of holiness

    * Set Apart by Kent Hughes

The Holy Spirit and becoming spirit filled

    * God in you by David Jeremiah

Books on how you should live in our world

    * The things that Matter by David Jeremiah
Your eternal reward by Erwin Lutzer
Dont waste your life by John Piper

Knowing God oh I have that one but forgot to include it. The Universe next door I have not read but have heard of it. Did the author forget to include relativism, pantheism, secularism, and naturalism? Or does he mention these?

    yes he does!

Any books by Francis Schaffer, especially the God who is there and He is not silent would be "must reading" to see how Christianity and culture run up against each other in a postmodern mindset!

I have heard of him, but do not yet own any of his books. There is so much to read my friend, so much to read. I have not yet heard back from the person I emailed, so perhaps I gave him more than enough books.

Good.. I recommended that the pastor/elder of our SS class read the New Tolerance by Josh McDowel to teach the class to be the salt & the light of the culture. Perhaps this book would be an expansion of that book. The new Tolerance speaks allot of postmodernism, relativism, and such.
