Romney Running Mate

I would say Ron Paul, but he would never run with Romney. Too different.

Rand Paul, though is a little more in line with Romney, and would be a good compromise between the Paleo Conservative and Neo Con branches of the Republican party.

 

I voted for Condi------would even love to see her run for President one day!! The lady is a political genius!!!:type::type::type:

If I had to have my second pick---it would be that dude from New Jersey----Chris Kringal-----I mean, Cristy!!!

 

Pick a governor like Gov. Mitch Daniels, Gov. Bob McDonnell, Gov. Bobby Jindal, or Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

 

Doesn't make any difference to since I plan to vote neither GOP nor Democrat.

 

This is where I am. The only exception I would make to that, is if the GOP made some serious concession, like softening their aggressive stance on overseas military action, getting Rand Paul as a running mate, etc.

 

The Rubio Choice is tempting....but we worked hard in Florida to get him there, you people can't take him away....he belongs to us HMMMPPHH. That aside, he needs to stay in the Senate IMO...That is, if the GOP wants to gain control of the Senate, a very real possibility; A Representative, they can spare, so I went with Ryan. Much as I love Christie, From an electability standpoint, I am not thinking that a Governor from Massachusetts needs to run with a Governor from New Jersey.....Two Yankees-one ticket-hmmm...probably not helpful. One way or the other..as long as it is not Palin :tongue3:

 

Someone from Goldman Sachs would be a nice change.

 

I believe the key to victory for either candidate is carrying Florida. Since you are a citizen, how likely is it that if Rubio is on the ticket the Republicans carry your state?

 

Rubio is very popular...and it could only help Romney in Florida...but I also think that If Romney plays his cards right...he can win in Florida either way....If he uses his VP pick to help ensure he carries a state...(what better reason is there) He may want to focus on Ohio or Pennsylvania or Michigan, all key battleground states as well...I think he has Florida in the bag. This last election was the only election in 20 years or so where the Republican DID NOT win in Fla. I do not think any Democrat Pres. candidate has won in Fla. since Carter (first time around) other than Obama, and I do not like Obama's chances in Florida this time around.

 

Clinton carried Fla in one of his runs. Not sure which. If I was interested in Romney winning, I would agree with you about the midwestern states. The only other section I can think of to grab is maybe the west coast, one of those states. If one looks at it in a way that is not geographical, it might be wise to pick a VP that shores up support among conservatives and Christian evangelicals.

 

Indeed...1996. I can't figure which left-coast state a Repub can win though....Kalifornia will never happen again, Any chances in Oregon or Wash? I like your thinking about shoring up conservative/evangelical votes...If he tries to do that, who would you think would work?

 

Washington a better chance than Oregon, and only because of liberal vs more liberal. If I were a Romney supporter, I would think Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee would be an excellent choice in that regards.

 

A southern Christian senator or governor would be a good combination.

 

After rethinking it I believe Huckabee would be the best choice for VP.
