Sounds Catholic to me...... Imagine Im in a Roman Collar & I have a cross in one hand & holy water in the other......now, "The Power Of Christ Compels You......Blah, Blah, Blah....."

Such nonsense.... perhaps Steadfast Fred or FAL could pull it off. BTW the Priest in the original Exorcist is a cousin. :tongue3:

Ive never seen one performed ....I dont think its necessary for men to go thru those ridiculous theatrics. However I have experienced (1st hand) the Holy Spirit kicking the crap out of me till I understood! All I got to say is THANKS & you saved my life. :love2: :godisgood:

I prefer to avoid anything even remotely demonic, including demonic TV shows. I would never participate in an exorcism--mostly due to my lack of faith.

    Yes, and I Left....

....I was at a prayer meeting that turned into an exorcism, and because of the way in which things were being done, I got up and left.

The entire thing was not reflecting Scripture, nor was the name of Jesus envoked. It was more for show, and it disgusted me...I had to go home and pray that what ever spirits were being released in the meeting to be cast off, and from around me.

I experienced one exorcism in my life time. We had a young girl who had gone off in her life and no one could explain it. We had a missionary visiting from one of those islands that has a lot of demonic things. The exorcism was quiet, honoured Christ and included a simple laying on of hands and prayer. The girl changed and remains a faithful missionary to-day.

I did not believe in this "stuff" and have never practiced it in 70 odd years of ministry. But it did work, so..........who am I to say it is wrong?

    Cheers,

    Jim

I believe the "Name it and Claim It Crowd" practice this nonsense. Of course given the thread where all those people are seeing things perhaps we should get training!

i would not participate in an exorcism because I do not believe that are present at this time. Besides no one who knows me would ask me.

    It Was....

....at a prayer meeting for a group the ministers to law enforcment officials.

I enjoyed the fellowship from the group, but felt the leader of the group was off base, and I couldn't stay around and watch the thing they were doing. Let's just say that most of the folks there were whipped up in a frenzy and never noticed my wife and myself leaving.

I never went back to that specific chapter, and I had trouble with the leader in the past, and this incident showed me how far off base he seemed to be!

do NOTagree to the Catholic rite of it, but do think that SOME of what passes as being mental illness, or other problems MIGHT be actually tied into occult/deminic forces involved!

That would be with non saved, as the saved MIGHT have it overtly causing depression, just anxiety feelings etc!
