The Republican war on women and the poor is now expanding to include the hungry eldery with cuts to meals on wheels. Donations to campaign funds are obviously more important to Republicans than feeding the poor and elderly.

If you really wanted the republicans to look bad, you would have picked a better pull quote.

You obviously have no idea what you are doing, anymore.

Are you in favor of cutting Meals on Wheels that feed the elderly who are sick or infirmed?

Do you really favor cuts to food aid, health care and social services like Meals on Wheels?

Oh the Republicans look bad. They are protecting the Pentagon and its waste that everyone know about and making the poor and elderly pay.

Some day the Republica poor will wake up and see what their party is doing to them and demand change or jump ship.

We'd have no problem feeding the poor in this country and several others if we weren't so tired and broke from paying for the huge hungry government the republicans and democrats have saddled us with for so many years.

If we want what big government has to offer somebody is going to have to go hungry.

So, why make the poor and elderly pay for the Pentagon excesses? Of course defense contractors do make large donations to campaigns and that makes it pretty clear why the poor and elderly are forgotten, but not the defense budget.

    An example of their waste:

Off topic question ... trying to derail the thread.

Why do you feel it is right to cut funding to feeding the poor and elderly?

Actually, congress holds the purse strings, which was solid democrat from the 2006 midterms.

I am sure he would veto this if it ever reached his desk and it is dead on arrival at the Senate. But it shows how heartless the Republicans will be if they gain power. It is election year politicing.

Why do you approve of cutting funding for feeding the poor and elderly?

The poor and elderly don't have a legion of lobbyists like the defense industry.

Why is the defense budget so big? To protect us from invasion? Nope, to keep the defense contractors happy and fat. The poor are welcome to fight in their lucrative endless wars though. Just don't expect to share in the spoils.

Hmmm. I thought the unions who give as much or more than any other lobby in this country was for the poor and elderly.

Democrats have had the purse strings since 2006. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid controlled all the money throughout this recession. That fact alone should end this crazy "see what Bush left us" whine. If the democrats were interested in the truth they would blame the right people.

Yeah well that's what they'd like ya to think. In DC money and power are the drugs of choice. Doesn't matter if you wear an R a D or a union label.

So you do not believe that unions have as much if not more money?

I know they thought they could take 5% of my paycheck every week for 20 years and bully me into voting for the Clintons. Paying dues is one thing but making me vote for a Clinton? Never!!!

I've seen the unions lose a little bit more every year from the inside. Now that I'm on the outside and live in a "right to work state" where the wages are low and dropping fast I can see where unions helped the poor more than the companies and corporations they contracted with ever did.

Left up to the companies and corporations we'd all be working as temps for peanuts. And we're getting there fast now that it is being left up to the companies and corporations more and more.

Actually, poncho, I think drugs are the DC drugs of choice. They mostly ALL behave as if they are on drugs.....

If we only had the money the Obamas have spent on lavish vacations and the billions of dollars Obama wasted on Solyndra and his other failed programs/giveaways, there would be plenty of money to feed the poor and elderly. Gee, maybe the GSA could chip in....

    From the Speaker's Blog:

If the Pentagon would just cut out half of the waste spent each year there would be no pain in these cuts.

Well, if you read further down in the article CTB, it says this:

"The budget-cutting drive is designed to head off a looming 10 percent, $55-billion budget cut set to strike the Pentagon on Jan. 1 because of the failure of last year’s deficit “supercommittee” to strike a deal. The Obama administration and lawmakers in both parties warn the reductions would harm readiness and weapons procurement, and reduce troop levels."

Remember the deal about the super committee and the automatic cuts - that's what this is about.....

Really? Just how much waste is there? What are the specifics on the waste in the Pentagon?
